I'm so glad for Jérémi Ancian winner of the 2012 Volant Peugeot 207 !!!
Peugeot-Sport should offer all the years winners such a "present", many many drivers would run the coming 208 Cup to get a drive in ERC :D
Breen named as Peugeot factory driver - 8 ERC events this yearhttp://www.ralsys.com/irally_admin/n...reenUlster.jpg
SWRC Champion and former WRC Academy Cup winner Craig Breen has been named by Peugeot Sport as a full factory driver.
The news is the main headline from Vélizy, as Peugeot Sport creates its own new Peugeot Rally Academy.
The Irish driver will take part in 8 ERC events this season in a 208 R2 - he's already listed on the Entry List for next month's Rally Liepāja-Ventspils Latvia, the second round of the 2013 FIA European Rally Championship.
Crucially, Breen will also work to help develop the Peugeot 208 R5, starting next week with a gravel test:
"This is incredible and beyond my dreams. I am really excited to work with a manufacturer like Peugeot Sport, I think of it since I was a young boy. To arrive here in front of a nice season is a good position to be in. My objective is to show good speed and challenge for some victories on a regular basis. For the testing program, I will give the best I can to support the development of the 208 Type R5”.
Breen will spearhead the Peugeot Sport ERC activity, with French drivers Jérémi Ancian and Stéphane Lefebvre alongside in 208 R2s. Ancian, who won last year's Volant 207 is provisionally scheduled to tackle WRC Azores, Tour de Corse, San Marino, Poland, Sanremo and Valais. Lefebvre is slated to do ERC Latvia, Azores, San Marino and Poland.
Bruno Famin, Peugeot Sport Team Principal:
"With the Peugeot Rally Academy, we are taking another step forward in terms of the support we provide to the winners of our promotional formulas. The 208 Rally Cup has all the required elements to be a great sporting success, with the 208 R2 which is already a leading car, a varied calendar and the unrivalled concept of offering a “drive” to the winner."
"I am confident that Craig will confirm all the good things that have been said about him in this year's ERC, and I can't wait to see how our winners will fare alongside him. There is no pressure on them to achieve results. It’s all about accumulating experience for these young drivers; we’re not fighting for the championship.”
The press release doesn't say anything about 207 S2000?
Good news though... is this a proper Peugeot Sport works entry or farmed out to Sainteloc or Kronos?
