Great photo - it took me a little while - I was pretty sure it was Trenton since it looks like NJ trees in the "winter" and the big wings looks like 1972..... That track looks like it was areal hole in the ground.....
Here the next one - sorry nothing exciting - I am going through a series of photos I found and put on my photobucket page a while back.... (remember no peeking at the file name!!) :p :

So what is the story behind AJ in that Parnelli? Did he actually end up buying out Vel's Parnelli Racing??
I had an old Car and Driver as a kid and this is what I remember. The article said that AJ had the aging Coyote out on the track running 197's, but Parnelli had brought the car out with AJ in mind (I guess he wanted to sell him some new cars) He convinced AJ to give it a go and AJ went out and qualified fastest on the second day. They broke something in the motor on the second lap, but were reportedly all smiles. He ran it on the ovals the rest of that year (He won at Silverstone in the Coyote.) He won the pole at Trenton, and was second at Phoenix and led every race with it.
He won 5 races in the Parnelli in '79 and finished second at Indy, albeit against less than full fields due to the first split.
The Parnelli was probably the fastest non-ground effects car. The last ones to qualify were at Indy in '81 and George Snider was fastest in AJ's Parnelli Backup (The others were Tony B and Vern Schuppan in Mclarens and Ton Klausler in a Schkee?) Tim Richmond actually drove the car in the race after buying it from Foyt. (PS This was the first race I ever went to :) )
Danny Ongais was also very fast in the Parnelli.
