Good lead for Neuville (and Latvala) but all down to their advantageous road positions. Cant really give them so much credit.
Ogier still the man given all his road sweeping. He said was happy to beat those who he saw as his competition here, Mikkelsen & Ostberg, who have a similar road position.
In WRC2 Scandola in a tight lead ahead of Lappi. Sunninen and Fuchs are even closer to each other. Complete top 5 in WRC2 for Škodas now. Kruuda in some problems and Aasen now slow (likely due to tires). Kopecký back in top 5 after the puncture.
Unusual relatively problem free rally for top drivers in WRC2. Just a couple of spin from a couple of drivers and one puncture for Kopecky.Quote:

Wonder how Capito feels about another 'wildcard' who hasn't competed previously this season blowing his guys into the dust?
Seems all that praise did Paddon harm... it seems that todays drivers have as a goal to win against Ogier and VW and then they just feel complete when they achieve it and Mess things up afterwards... it is a shame.

Teemu lost the WRC 2 lead on SS7 when he hit a rock and punctured a tyre - but he's fought his way back into winning contention. "Today has been good. Luckily we found good speed after the puncture, which was my mistake. Tomorrow let's see. I think we have enough pace to fight for the win."

Maybe I think this only because I am italian. But, at least in the latest years, it has never happened in any other country that a local driver of the rally who never partecipate to WRC2, was among the best of that category

Quentin Giordano had to leave in the special 5th Rally of Sardinia. Quentin was in a good rhythm, being both wise and close to the Top 10. In terms of long term potential you could be right, but i cant help feel some are getting a bit carried away with Paddon. He could still be compared with the likes of Andreas and even Thierry. All on one win and are all a similar age (Neuville could be on 2 wins after this weekend despite his shocking last 12months). Just seems because the WRC is so desperate for someone to rival Ogier that all the pressure is on Paddon after his Argentina win and that's a bit unfair. He's binned it twice since that win now! Hopefully he does fulfill all his potential but he's still a few years away yet, but at least he has time on his side.Quote:

I think he's ahead of Paddon as a driver speed wise and he's better across all the surfaces. He's shown that with an older car that's not been properly developed for a few years now too..., so with a C3 that's going to be quality let's see what he can do.

@er88 about Paddon i was talking among the new drivers.Definetely i rate Meeke higher too.But Paddon has his time with him.
Maybe Rossetti too. Unfortunate that at the peak of their careers the WRC was in a downturn, and the Punto wasn't good enough for them to compete consistently in IRC, plus Anton Alen was clogging up a seat there.Quote:
