Change of plan for Breen:
'After his retirement from WRC Rallye de Portugal last month Peugeot Rally Academy driver Craig Breen has changed his WRC2 Championship plan.
The FIA European Championship leader has decided not to compete as planned on WRC Poland at the start of July but instead will take his SAINTéLOC Racing run Peugeot 208T16 to WRC Rallye Deutschland. The rally which takes place from the 20th to the 23rd of August sees Craig swap gravel for tarmac saying, “We were looking forward to Rally Poland, but after our non-finish in Portugal, we feel this is the best decision to help us on our campaign to win WRC2.”
Although WRC Rallye Deutschland is seen as one of the most difficult asphalt rallies of the season it’s a happy hunting ground for Craig as he has tasted success there before when he won the World Rally Academy class back in 2011. This along with completing a full reconnaissance of the event last year makes the switch a sensible decision.'
New subaru NR4(?) is out, thats good.
Will it be close to the R5's?
Not gonna happen with any R4 anytime soon.
What is the difference between this new NR4 vs the old R4?
I expect it to be another fail after all previous efforts with any Impreza coming after the hatchback. Gr.N cars are pretty much dead (especially in asphalt countries). They will slowly disappear and the only thing we can do is to get used to it.
I don't know why they bother trying to flog a dead horse. ( Well, I do; they are a business) but at the top level GpN is dead.
I rather have Open class (Golf, Crawford's Impreza) alongside R5/RRC than current R4
How many loudly announced Subaru gr.N have we seen after the hatchback? They did some promotional events with Arai or with Higgins and Cronin in another case but that was all. Nearly nobody bought those cars.
Laukkanen is driving one in Kenya, probably for commercial reasons. I suppose it's a TMR built Sub, not the JRM one.
There's one too in USA, but I don't know if it's a JRM or something locally built. And a few in Finland, but it's TMR, not JRM cars.
This one is for sure a failure. It happened to late too ...
Maybe the new could be a success. Sub Canada, Sub USA, STI in Japan, ... some are already using the WRX STi 2015. Maybe it can have a commercial success if it well done. The car looks better, more agressiv, closer to a real rally car.
Yes but we speak about few cars here and there while there are thousands of N10-N16 everywhere. It's not a success to sell less gr.N cars than WRC.
I'd rather see JRM try to build a R-GT Nissan, with either the 370Z or GT-R than try to build a car which can't compete with R5's in WRC2. At least a R-GT would be a 'crowd pleaser'. The GpN cars are as dull as ditchwater.
Bryan Bouffier driving an OPEN N group car last weekend was able to win Polish championship round. An OPEN N group car is basically a Mitsubishi Lancer or Subaru Impreza with bodywork of a different car, a Ford Fiesta in this case. Bryan beat multiple R5s this time and he also was 2nd in a previous round a few weeks ago. If that kind of cars would get more popular then there would a market for Mitsubishi and Subaru, but not a direct brand exposure though.
Both the swedish and the polish Mitsubishi R5 has alot of evo-parts inside, If i remember right? Any news on these projects btw?
Anyone have any info on Protasov's schedule for the rest of the year?
but in finland entry list he is entered with RRC?
Yes it is legal for WRC2 :)
ah i got it wrong, i understood that he will be in a WRC car in finland and australia.
