While we were on with the subject of the first game (apologies if this has already been discussed on a different thread) did anyone else notice there were several obvious mistakes with the first game?
I couldnt ever complete it. One of the challenges set (people who own this game will knw this!) was to beat another driver, not just on the overal stage time, but you have to go faster on every split.
In rally catalunya, you had to do this (against raikkonen, iirc) but I never could beat him on the first split - no matter how many times I tried. I thought I was doing something wrong, so I downloaded from xbox live the ghost of the player who had set the fastest time ever recorded on that stage....And even he failed to beat Raikkonen on the first split. That has got to be a mistake in the programming, surely?
New video!

there is also another video on that guys channel
That co-driver is shocking, they couldnt make him sound more artificial if they tried!
Well, as expected, seems we'll get some really narrow roads and tight hairpins, at least for the new stages/countries :)
As expected then. No change to the co-driver, and the most horrible car sounds I have ever heard. What have they been doing the last year? Loving themselves?
By the way, weren´t the super specials supposed to be identical to the real one´s? I´ve never the the Karlstad SSS as it is in WRC2.
Regarding the sounds, they have been Improved; closer to real rally sounds now:
especially the launch effects, the blow-off valves, turbo and the engine sounds of some cars, aren't so bad.
Okay If you compare them with Codemasters, they need much more work, but hey, CM are In the business for ages :D
First review is in.....
WRC2 - FIA World Rally Championship Review - Xbox 360 - Page 2 | Eurogamer.net
And it got a 6, the reviewer even says it's pointless, no improvement from last year.
Dissapointing :( .
I really do hope the game is much better than rated as I've already preordered it :s
I disagree with that ,.... i played WRC2 and the stages are really improved! much better hairpins bumps and everything... it aint perfect yet but they did improved!
Even i enjoy the mode " way to the WRC" its not sim its not like RBR or CMR but atleast its more fun carreer then in D3
Its not really a surprise that its pap considering how secretive they have been about it!
I think I will save my money for Forza 4!
It's too early for a review, but some screenshots -via In-game photo editor- will get you In the atmosphere ;)
And another thing: DON'T believe a word, until you play the game. The official one
not the pirate copy-there's a huge difference In graphics quality and framerate.

WOW PC version looks amazing! and yeah play the original game before deciding if its good or not.
Here is some screens taken from my PS3 version of the game. Milestone did a much better job this time round.

The Acropolis rally stages, are probably the best In the game :D (...really!!!)
Here's my review:
STAGES: The new added stages are what most of us call ‘proper rally stages’.
Narrow roads, full of bumps, cambers, crests, elevation changes and tight hairpins.
Unlike the stages of 2010, In the new ones you need to have a good rhythm from start to finish,
upshifting-downshifting-breaking-hand breaking all the time. Milestone are In the right direction regarding rally stages design.
About the stages of 2010, they now look much better thanks to lighting Improvements.
Also some sections are made more narrow since the devs have placed some vegetation on both sides of the road to give that narrow feeling.
PHYSICS: Great Improvements made on cars physics. Cars now behave more realistically on every surface
and thanks to the new car tuning options given, you can make the handling more accurate, If you want to.
Damage system Is Improved too, visually + mechanical.
AUDIO: The sounds are much closer to the real thing. Raw and aggressive bangs, pops, blow off valves, turbo whistle, launch effects e.t.c.
Everything sounds as It should.
PRESENTATION: Clean, easy to navigate, with a more professional touch and super fast loading times.
Generally, there’s a great WRC atmosphere through out all the menus, offline or online.
NEW FEATURES: We welcome the amazing In-game photo editor, the super rally option and the new very Interesting career
with all those additions of mechanics, staff managers e.t.c. making the way to WRC more professional.
Also we are happy to see there Is an option changing the stages order In custom championship!
BIGGEST LET DOWNS:
-Sadly the co-driver remained as It was, spoiling the whole atmosphere.
-The reduce of Intensity of dust particles. How did Milestone let this happen?
The dust particles are so thin you can actually see through them…
Especially In some stages (Argentina, Portugal, Mexico e.t.c.) they look totally fake.
-The childish liveries of the GroupB and Safari class. Probably due to license Issues
but I think they could make some more rally-ish liveries, even If the were Imaginary.
Overall, WRC2 was exactly what promised: An Improved version of the 2010 title
with some strong evidence Milestone will get everything right In WRC3.

Playing the game now and guess what ?...I like it ! :p :

Ott Tanak WRC2 game does not exist. Weird
SWRC of the fastest riders in the game do not exist. This is a great fault of the manufacturers
Can anyone give an explanation of how the physics are improved? This counts alot towards me getting the game or not.
It is strange... might have been some licensing issue I believe.Quote:

Do we have any comparison between PS3 and PC yet? I have the capability to use either, though I'm thinking PC is the go at the moment. Any opinions on that?
Look Bennizw, some really annoying elements of 2010 handling have been Improved or corrected.Quote:

A perfect example of the new physics, Is that If you enter a turn with more speed that you should, you may roll your car If the turn gets tighter or you don't steer carefully; that could never happen In 2010 game no matter how much you tried :D
Also the new car tunnung settings, have a bigger affect on car's handling, compared to last year. You can actually tell a difference, when you mess with max steering lock or downforce. Finally, the mechanical damage system Is more Improved, and that makes the game more challenging.
Well, that's In short, my personal opinion regarding the changes In physics.
Better try to play the game first and then buy It.
No reports yet regarding gameplay comparison betwenn platforms.Quote:

So, is there Tanak and Prokop in official game, or not?
Well, I small improvement yes. The physics are somewhat better, and it is actually possible to handle the cars now. However, the car sound is still horrible, as is the co-driver. The graphics are still outdated, and the stage design boring and lacking recognition, variation and atmosphere (not to mention that the stages are equal to last years game). I can´t help sitting back with a "cheap" and little passionate feeling with the game. It just doesn´t make me want to sit down and play it again.
Just watched one of the WRC2 gameplay videos on YouTube. The co-driver is absolutely rubbish! When did you ever hear a real co-driver using the word "bottleneck" or telling the driver to "slow down". The pacenotes are terrible and certainly don't seem to relate much to the corners ahead. But then, the corners themselves don't much resemble those you find in the real WRC, so I suppose the developers were at least consistent. I'm not impressed at all by what I've seen so far and it seems the official WRC games have got worse since I stopped buying them because I thought they were poor. As much as I object to the way Codemasters took the Colin McRae Rally franchise, they do at least know what they're doing when it comes to making a decent arcade racing game.
What drivers are included? Is Ken Block & Kris Meeke there for instance as they both appear in another game. Which WRC car has the best handling? What is the advised set-up to get the best out of each surface?
it's a fun game, anyone interested in having a motorsportforums.com online battle ? :)
I agree, the co-driver in the 2010 game was rubbish, even though I loved the game and spent many hours addicted :) I bought Dirt 3 aswel, and I hated it. You couldnt get a good drift, and if you started to slide, there was no saving it. One of the best things about wrc2010 was going waaay too fast into a corner and almost going off -Quote:

A bit like this! This is something that couldnt be done in Dirt 3, as soon as you started to slide, thats it, youre off the stage, and there was no saving it.
When I played Dirt 3 however, the few times that I did, I found the option to alter the co drivers notes (easy-complex, or something like that) So when you approach a slight right hander on a wide road, instead of getting -
"6 Right, keep left, 100"
You get -
"And 6 right plus, open, keep left on exit, 100"
The detail of the pace notes was a big let down for me in wrc2010, and I saw the video(possibly the same one as you) on youtube of the PC footage and Im a bit dissapointed to see they havent improved the pace notes, but I wonder if theres an option (like dirt 3) to make the notes more accurate??
