I do agree with you that it ends up boring with the same stages from year to year. For 2011 FIA actually wanted Rally Sweden to incorporate a full day with stages in the Finnskogen area in Norway. Its a pity they didn`t want that, as the Finnskog roads are fantastic and of a different caracter (more technical) than the stages in Sweden. With remote service at the little community of Svulrya they could have a stage distance of some 150 kms with very little road sections. Instead they chose to run only part of a stage in Norway.

Btw the "Norway stage" has been a classic in the Rally Finnskog (ERC and NRC) for many years. The stage is called Løvhaugen and has a fantastic spectator area when the cars are passing the farm Løvhaugen. There is also a straight with a famous double jump before a junction. Yours truly knows the stage quite well ;-) Codriving Tord Linnerud in a Corolla WRC we managed a stage record in 2005...

Pitty, I do believe in the NGT category. Imagine 350Z, Lotus, small Porsche, Z4, ... going sideways in a subclass, maybe much more interesting than WRC :)

Agreed! I dont think they will offer much in gravel rally's, but I think they'd come into their own on tarmac. might even make rallye Deutschland and rally de Espana a little less predictable :)

I would recommend going to Colin's Crest if you haven't been to Sweden before, as there is no other place like it in the world on the WRC calendar and it has become a "must do" at least once kinda thing. But, keep this in mind:

1. Get there stupid early and plan on staying ALL DAY for both runnings. Don't be in a hurry to get somewhere, because you're not going anywhere.
2. Plan on dealing with lots of drunkards
3. Camp out your spot and make sure nobody comes hustling for it.
4. A ladder or step stool might be nice, especially if you are short
5. Enjoy the crazy PA announcer guy, korv and sweet smoke in the forest
6. Don't plan on taking pictures. It's just too dark and smoky, and too many people lined along the jump.

I sadly won't be able to make it this year, but it sounds like it's shaping up to be be a nice edition with a ton of spectators attending.

You mean Kuipers..? All the registered Manufacturers are Priority 1 drivers, so that is why Kuipers (Ferm Power Tools W.R.T.), Block (Monster W.R.T.) and Räikkönen (Ice 1 Racing) are seeded no 1.

PG and Matthew have priority 2, because their class is WRC, but are not scoring Manufacturer´s points...

Khalid Al Qassimi is also priority 1, while he normally is the third/reserve driver for Castrol Ford Abu Dhabi. Now he is entered for Team Abu Dhabi. Is he planning a whole season in 2011 and entering in the Manufacturer championship?
Petter Solberg also has priority 1. Did he had it already in 2010 , or is PSWRT entering the championship from round 1 , instead of starting in Mexico?

I meant theoratical, as he is the third driver for Castrol Ford Abu Dhabi WRT and officialy a factory driver, although he drove older specifications Focus WRCars. Now he is entered under priority 1 (like al other manufacturer drivers) and Team Abu Dhabi, plus he has number 10.

Al-Qassimi is not a nominated driver but he will do almost every rally in the championship.
Matthew Wilson and PG Andersson only secured the Swedish Rally for now.
I think there's a new rule that a driver that enters 3 or 4 events in 2011 or score on them (I don´t remember well), automaticly this driver will be in Priority #1 list in the next events

Its a pity but they have decided on running the stage in opposite direction. That means it will now be a square left in a junction and then uphill acceleration passing what will not be two spectacular jumps, but rather two small crests. No chance for any sort of liftoff when the stage runs like this.
If you want to see the jump on a video go to http://www.injection.no. Choose any of the programs. In the start trailer of the programme Mads Østberg is flying past the camera in his Subaru. This is the last of the two jumps. The first one is passed appr. 100 metres before.
I still think the Løvhaugen stage (SS4/7) will have plenty of atmosphere with lots of happy norwegian spectators. The passing of the farm Løvhaugen will be good also in this direction, its very accessible and it should be great watching across open farmland.

Why should each entrant be a manufacturer? PSWRT wasn't last year.
I think Team Abu Dhabi is just an entrant. No more, no less.

Reason is simple, new rules:
P1 drivers:
11.1.2 Drivers who have been nominated as P2 drivers on more than 2 consecutive rounds of the
World Rally Championship in the current year. As directed by the FIA, these drivers must then comply with
the rules pertaining to WRC Teams.
11.1.3 Any driver classified amongst the first 6 in the final classification of the FIA World Rally
Championship for Drivers in the past 5 years unless eligible to score points for a Support Championship.

So, last year he was allowed to test as much as he wanted and wherever he wanted (e.g Mexico etc.). Now he is unable to do it and he is considered as WRC team anyway. So, better to pay 32 000 EUR more and get more exposure by appearing in Manufacturers rankings as well.
