Schweinsteiger told Cahill after the match that it didn't deserve a red card. Says it all.
Yes it was not really a red card offence but then, they would have still lost 3-0 or more (2 goals had already gone and it could have been 3-0 at the break if Klose hadn't forgotten how to finish with his feet!)
Playing a lone striker (who in reality is a midfielder , although a goal-scoring one at club level) is a recipe for 0 points ( I guess Aus were only looking for 1 pt anyways)
Germany were amazing - if only they cut out the diving (and interestingly it came from a Brazilian and a Turkish-German player, I thought the referee was pretty good except for the Cahill card)
France were fun to watch as usual ( :rolleyes: ) and other teams just need to learn to not be afraid of them so much. I can see SA giving them a fright.
England - funny, but wish it was James and not Green to laugh at.

Italy didn't play that much better Pino. It was a dull half in which neither team really did much of anything to score, the only difference is that the Italian defence switched off.

When I posted I was talking about the first half. I guess that you watched it through a big pair of Italian rose-tinted spectacles because you offered nothing in the first half. Italy had the ball more but never really threatened much. There were corners but they came to nothing and the keeper was barely troubled.Quote:

NZ last minute equaliser!!! From what I've seen of the dying minutes it was well deserved, especially as the Slovakian goal was offside. Shouldn't have been left so late though, they missed an absolute sitter about 5 minutes before.
Still they got their reward for some good pressure and Slovakia paid the price of trying to soak it up.

I must agree about first half, the problem was Marchisio playing in a wrong position. Stupid Lippi should've played Di Natale in that position, eventhough the best man there would've been Cassano, but he's not in the squad :mad:
