This press release clarifies that it is the team who is out for 2019:

A "pause" on the program rather: awaiting the arrival of electric before returning?
Solberg has the new Polo R5 to play with next year.
His son is going to play with it...on professional level, i don`t think he will go on his own. Probably one of VW Motorsports advertisers on those events they take part of.
Talks about them concentrating on other motorsports. Wonder if they'll split and have Petter in the R5 and Johann doing more of a touring car assault?
Unsure if this is actually a good thing, certainly leaves it open for the privateers (which is what many of us wanted to see). Good opportunity for the likes of GCK, GRX or a Hansen set up, assume that they're all still about. But we've basically lost 7 cars from the championship which is a huge blow when it was already under subscribed.
But ES is entering with Nasser. Don't underrate him. Maybe his Qatar backing could help secure another great driver and Skoda surprise us all. Don't know how much manufacturer is involved in this project or it is completely private. Loeb could be back too with i20 since WTCR programm is filled with 4 drivers (as far as I know this is max. per brand). Wonder where will Bakkerud will fall. Man he is a little unlucky last years. He was doing good in Ford and Audi and both suddenly pulled out.
Seems we are nack to ERX, and private teams and tuners.
Pretty sure Bakkerud won't be in RX next year, his recent Vlogs have been doing Red Bull young driver stuff and DTM tests so I think Red Bull are trying to shoehorn him into another series.
Does anyone know the reason OMSE takes a sabbatical..?
And I wonder if Hayden will going to RX..?

With actually no WRX event behind them they are in the no man's land. We and they don't know where will be after half of the year. Pretty sure all remaing teams (GRX, Hansen, SL Racing, GCK, Bennett, STARD, MJP, Munnich,...) will be in favor because of experience. Or it will ES domine from the start.
Can't see MJP doing much, he's heading up the rival series.
I wonder if it's possible that next year's champion can do so without doing all the flyaway rounds? If someone dominates like JK did this year then in theory they could win the championship and not bother with SA.
Is this joke of a sport dead yet so we can continue with our lives ? or it will plague us in 2019 as well ?
@Andrew_Coley
Interesting. @MadsOstberg appears to be @MettetRX track testing on @CooperTireEU today…be a great addition for @FIAWorldRX or #EuroRX.
Hmmm. Are they Skoda wheels?

Grönholm is pushing more to WRX
Stard also doing same
I believe both of those are faster than that ES Skoda
https://www.rallit.fi/marcus-gronhol...taan-panoksia/
Here Grönholm says they might end up running even three cars next year.
Baumanis with Stard is a good combo, he was regularly the one to be ‘best of the rest’ this season. If they can get to 16 regulars (which is a long way off) it could be a really competitive season.

-So: Scheider, Baumanis, Bennett, Chicherit and Niclas are IN.
- Plus a second GCK and a second GRX entries (Doran-GCK and Timur-GRX?)
...and MAYBE both of these teams could field a 3rd car for certain events. (Loeb-GRX?)
...and Both Munnich and STARD could field a second entry each too). Xite have a Fiesta that could be used in WRX or ERX too.
- Hansen is trying to run a 2 car team too. Maybe the 2018 peugeots?
- ES Motorsport will run one Skoda for sure. MAYBE two?
I was thinking that EuroRX drivers would jump in the WRX at least for the European rounds but that would be pointless if theres no chances of a title if you dont race every event. Money is a big part here. I dont see EuroRX guys having money for the whole season... And they still have an EuroRX "cheaper" title to fight for so....
MAYBE Nitiss, Marklund, Raymond, Larsson, Szabo... But I dont see names like Rustad, Hedstrom, Bryntesson, Linnemann, Walfridson, Jeanney, Grosset, Karai, PalKiss, MDK, Tohill, Dubourg trying the WRX
The way that the flyaway rounds work is just killer for privateer teams, but I also think that they don't help themselves. Do they all really need the stuff that they take to the European events?
No more RX for Norwegian TV

This is bad for Scandinavian sponsors
Timmy and Kevin Hansen will be racing in GRC Europe in 2019. Very surprising move from them.
That might actually be a bigger blow for WRX and ERX than anything else. One thing would've been if Team Hansen had gone down to ERX for a year, but while Kenneth is on the track-group for WRX with FIA, they decide that GRC Europe is better than ERX.
The championshp is slowly diying.
The words don't mean anything these days. It could change immediately everything.
Really good interview with Petter and Oliver.
The Huyndai's were originally meant for Petter to use but when VW came with an offer Petter asked Grönholm if he would like to to take over.
