Great battle between Munster and Van der Marel!
Yes Mirek. And Van der Marel will do a Belgian Campaign. So Munster has some Competition in BRC this season.

Surprising performance from Bedoret.
Bedoret indeed very nice result with clean driving probably thanks to the tutoring by Freddy Loix.
Verschueren has for the moment almost no confidence probably due to the change to Pirelli. Had barely punctures with Michelin, now he had already 5 flat Pirelli tyres!

Some side-notes from TAC Rally. Demaerschalk had brake issues in first half of the rally, and had a 3 minute time penalty (apparently for illegal service). In the last 5 stages he lost only 12 seconds to Princen, so some progress was made. Verschueren indeed switched to the Pirelli tyres this year, the main complaint was that the car is completely different to drive with Pirelli's, and the set-ups he was used to didn't work. According to what I've heard Pirelli has a far weaker sidewall than the Michelin tyres, especially the softer ones. Apart from Verschueren, all cars in top 10 were on Michelin tyres. In the junior category there was a good fight. Munster had a heavy off, and a brain concussion, but other than that he's ok. Gilles Pyck was in the lead before going in a ditch on the penultimate stage, he could continue but lost a lot of time, leaving the win to Wagemans. Fastest R2 was Dutch driver Timo van der Marel.

First victory for Fernémont after a battle with Cherain! Princen this time didn't start. Verschueren seems to be completely lost this year.
1. Fernémon (Fabia R5) 1:51:42,9
2. Cherain (Polo R5) +3,0
3. Bedoret (Fabia R5) +1:13,7
4. De Mevius (Fabia R5) +1:19,1
5. Bouche (Polo R5) +1:43,1
6. Demaerschalk (C3 R5) +2:01,9
7. Verschueren (Fabia R5) +2:12,8
8. Snijers (Polo R5) +2:47,6
9. Rouard (Fabia R5) +3:24,3
10. Collard (Fabia R5) +3:39,5
Verschueren had a puncture, but even without that he lacks a bit of speed lately, while his driving doesn't look that bad at all.

Bouffier with official M-Sport Fiesta WRC in Ypres to fight Neuville!
Well, that would change things a lot :)
A question about this Ypres Rally Masters - maybe someone knows. Will it run on the same stages but as a separate timetable like the historic rally? Or will it open the road before the main field? Hoping for the latter.
Tomorrow there's the Sezoens Rally, already the 5th event of the BRC. The stages are nearly identical to the previous edition, marked by the well-known gravel sections. 3 loops of 5 stages are driven, totalling 154km SS. 14 R5 cars are starting, of which 4 VW Polo (Princen, Cherain, Snijers, Schmelcher), 6 Fabia (Fernémont, Verschueren, Bédoret, De Mevius, Cracco, Van Loon), 2 Fiesta (Wright, Becx, Vanden Abeele) and one i20 (Van Iersel). In R2 the usual drivers (Van der Marel, Munster, Pyck, and a few more).

Cherain and Fernemont already confirmed to skip Ypres because of being to expensive. And maybe aswell that the Masters gets more attention than the actual rally.

Yesterday we had the "Rally van Wervik", local event close to Ypres, with similar stages. Logically, a lot of drivers were there to prepare for Ypres. Verschueren was leading into the last stage, but had a spin and lost the victory to Bédoret. Freddy Loix became third. Thanks - I was going to ask where Verschueren fits in the seedings, but I suppose with the qualifying stage it doesn't really matter.
Overall, pretty nice entry - pity that a few more of the Irish runners can't make it from Donegal, disappointing (though understandable) not to have Fernemont and Cherain and a real shame IMO to have this 'masters' sideshow take one or two entries away from the main event, but Veiby, Breen, Abbring, Loix in addition to the BRCs' front runners. Probably 10 or so podium contenders.
On the Friday, do you think it's possible to see the first 30 cars in SS1 before hopping to SS4 or SS5? I've done that most years, but it feels like cutting it a bit close this time...
Had to change some original travel plans to get there, but hoping to make it for the historic shakedown this year too - some nice sounds in there.
Timing is quite tight this year, indeed. I think 30 cars is a lot, if I do it, it'll be for maximum 20 cars. Also keep in mind that traffic (even without rally-traffic) is quite busy at that moment of the day.
So Abbring's entry is actually Snijers' car, so not much chance of seeing both #7 and #15 together!
