My point is that to think of Prodrive as a failure simply because their latter-day Subarus were useless is to ignore what they managed to do before that. I think that the Ralliart/Mitsubishi WRC and Dakar combination of programs can demonstrate how independent operators can be successful in this format.
On Subaru, I think the recent cars had flawed designs and that the Japanese HQ may have tried to micromanage the team, which may have caused Petter and Chris to be off the pace
