Was expecting a bit more speed from Meeke Tbh.
It seems he has retired now?
Yes I was talking about speed but before that....

Manuel Canal Roblès is amazing for his first in the DS3 R3T
Being in front of belgian 2WD reference Stephan Hermann :)
Well, 3rd in a car he hasn't driven before, within striking distance, not having competed for six months or so, better to approach it sensibly rather than put it on its roof straight away.
Lefebvre moment

No, no... co-driver of car No 7 passed away this afternoon on the stage of Ben Ahin. Car hit a pole on the codriver side.

RIP
Terrible news. :(
Uuuuhhhhh.
Investigation interesting to see. Safety always most important. What differs R5 from WRC cars regarding sideimpacts?
Very sad, RIP :(
Terrible news indeed.
There is likely not much to investigate. Side impact onto a pole is one of the most dangerous things which can happen. Not much can be done about it. You can't take down poles around the roads and there is no way to make cars immune to such impacts, the risk can be only somewhat reduced but even with the most safe cars this type of accidents can be grave.
They have basically same safety features as previous generation of WRC cars. Current WRC cars have advantage of larger width. This additional width is used to enhance safety in side impacts by having stronger sills and enlarged side deformation zones (much thicker door filled with energy consuming foam).
RIP, very sad news.
Very sad news :(
My condolences to the family of tragically victim of this accident. It is again a remainder how dangerous this sport can be....
I hope Lefebvre wiil bring this very important victory to home.....it will be a good advertisement for Citroën and their ''sport customer business'.
Sad news indeed.
We went there yesterday. Good rally again, so much spectators, good action.
Too bad Meeke retired early.

BRÜLS: @condrozrally 2018 will be one Belgian driver @TobiasBruls will want to forget. His original Peugeot 208 R2 was stolen on Thursday evening. He then crashed his replacement 208 (from Germany) into the Mayor of Huy’s house! #condrozrally @hlnsport

What happened to Bedoret on SS7? Puncture? He was fast today even winning one stage.
Condroz win for Lefebvre, with three C3 R5's in the top 8.

Video from JM.
On Belgian Tv they say the motor damage of Meeke was caused by an off?
His stop is 36s in this vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbm-...4DIMTe_MTcEBwg
Can't see any visible front damage, but could have been some small excursion that broke a cooling pipe or something. The very white smoke looks mostly like steam.
-------------
Anyway after watching I few vids I have to say there are people in insane places in just about every second corner. Lot of them are "photographers" (= invincible). But also other people. Mostly on the outside of faster corners.
Example: 25s in on this vid:

Is this normal in Belgium?
In most events not. Problem is that Condroz attracts enormous crowds and the organizers cannot handle them. Pretty much like Rally Poland for example. What you saw there also isnt normal in other Polish events.
Some crazy pass from Lefebvre: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...04937102914778

Wow, some really dangerous spots folk are stood. Great round for advertising Citroens though, well done Lefebvre on taking on the locals; hope to see him back in Ypres with that C3 next year.
So the theory from belgium is that one of the mechanics in the team tried to cheat with fuel and put some additives into Meeke's fuel which destroyed the engine.
Anyone has more info? Sounds a bit crazy to me.
First thing I heared about that.
Car came from Metior btw.
LOL. I really cannot imagine that, especially as it's an Italian team. I think it is very likely that the team (Metior Sport) made a very cheap price for Meeke, to be able to promote their team/cars. The car was completely rebuilt before the event. It's interesting to note that in Belgium all teams must use the same fuel (https://gutts.be/product/hiperflo-tu...v2-refuel-brc/), which is Carless Hiperflo. So mapping has to be changed for the fuel they use, maybe it wasn't perfect? However 2 other Metior cars were competing and they both finished without issues. In an interview on stage just after his retirement, Meeke said "we don't know the cause, but it looks like IT has dumped all the water." I think the reason for retirement is broken radiator, which can be caused by some impact. +-2km before he retired, he had this moment (video: https://www.facebook.com/nathan.blan...7942260528428/) where he went off in a field but was able to continue. He didn't visibly hit something, but in the past we've seen it doesn't take much to perforate or crack a radiator... So the story you heard is almost certainly made up by someone who has a lot of fantasy.
From the photo it looks like a white smoke, i.e. likely a coolant.

I don't believe the story about the fuel either.

Happy I was spectating from the back there...
and one from different angle

Imagine if that happened on one of the places where spectators were right next to the road on the outside of corners.

It's almost like Portugal in the 80s
