No. None of these events counts for ERC. Those coefficients are related only for the European Cup and nothing else.

Right. So big number is in my opinion caused by existence of several zone cups in previous years which were only joined to one. They were useless also, even won by crews which didn't even know they won something (for example Kris Meeke or Jan Kopecký won them purely accidentally).

Even I, as a fan, have no idea who won it previous years... How can somebody have interest in it??

Maybe these rallies are the ones most likely to be considered to be added to the ERC calendar in the future and are like when the WRC used to have a 'Candidate Event'. But 20 rallies also a lot for that idea to be true.....

I'm confusing myself now...

Some of those are the ones from iRC and ex-ERC that got dumped from merge that resulted in the current ERC championship. And they aren't happy about it... Rally Madeira, for example, in 2012 it wasn't part of the iRC but was part of the ex-ERC... and this year isn't part of anything "European" as a result of not being on the current ERC calendar.

It wasn't possible to have all the iRC and ex-ERC events together in the same calendar... specially with costs involved to the promoter and so on...

FIA probably created that "Cup" to compensate for it... and this way the dumped rallies will still be part of an European competition, attracting a few outsiders to compete with the locals.

I don't think someone will have serious intentions in this CUP !

There is absolutely no logic to participate in this.

All participants will be local crews ... and the winner will be a total surprice :)

Craig Breen is trying to find the sponsorship to participate in the Championship in a Peugeot 207 S2000 of Sainteloc Racing. The agreement could include doing some development on the 208 R5.

From what i know young man from Poland wants to start in ERC with Evo X. His account in Polish Championship is 0 rallies but he has big wallet. His name is Tomasz Kasperczyk, last season with Fabia R2 in Polish second league.

I've just been watching the British Eurosport coverage of Day 1 - it would be so much better if they got rid of Carlton Kirby. As a commentator he is fairly bad but not the worst in the world but he cannot pronounce anything remotely foreign! Here are some of his mispronunciations:

Vaclav Pech - "Vaclak", "Vaplav"

Beppo Harrach - "Harrash", "Horrach"

Buamschlager - "Baumschlanger" "Boomschalnger" he even said "a clanger from Baumschlanger" - it doesn't work because his name isn't BaumschlaNger!!!

Kajetan Kajetanowicz - "Ketjan Kajetanowicz" How can he manage to say those differently when its the same name with '-owicz' on the end?!

Freistadt - "Freestadt"

Now I know most people don't care about failing to pronounce things and it can be hard with names in a foreign language but if you're going to get things wrong at least be consistent! They had the MotorsTV WRC guy interviewing the drivers at the end of the stage so they should get the Scottish guy who does the main commentary for the WRC too - none of the WRC and ERC events are on the some weekend...
