If you don't like rep then don't look at it. I'm not going to start intervening to be a judge of if bad rep was 'deserved' or not.
Well if we could turn off the ability for a particular user to see comments that'd be great because inevitably when you look at your user cp you'll usually see it. Got a similarly halfwit derived piece of rep this morning. I don't see why people who are just making pests of themselves shouldn't just get a temp ban or be named and shamed. They're not exactly contributing to the forum are they? :mark:
Not a bad suggestion. Make it, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."Quote:

Some assessments in ethics may be highly subjective, however there are well established standards. By any of the well established standards, the REP system is unethical, and encourages unethical behavior. Too many threads and complaints document this problem. To suggest that because people who post public messages are hiding behind anonymity is to misunderstand both ethics and ethical standards. The public posts are just that - public, and not dark, dank nasty digs at people -- which is what the REP system, as currently implemented invites and supports.Quote:

Harsha, I find the bad rep system amusing, and the support for it rather typical of the overall decay of many aspects of Western Civilization. I've made no "personal attacks." When I have posted anything about ethics and codes of conducts, they have been deleted as "hijacking a thread." Clearly, a discussion of ethics is disturbing to some on the forum. I have identified inconsistencies in the way some members are treated. Rather than being unethical, that is highly ethical. Your post could be construed as a personal attack -- is that your intention?Quote:
