What happened to Maurin?
Anyway, the i20's first victory is a fact. :)
Yes lot of rain, bad tyre choice. Too bad for Maurin as he did an extraordinary race.
Thanks. :)
Can somebody describe what happen in the stages of the rally in a few words?i mean what happen between maurin and bouffier.
watch the amount of rain at first seconds

Tyre choice denied Maurin's win. Gr8 battle for 3rd place between Roger Feghali (207 s2000) Nantet and Rouillard in 911 GT3 and Roche in Mini wrc. Unfortunatly Roger hit a wall and broke the rear arm in ss8. Gr8 drive from Camilli as well, very talented youngster.
Maurin easily leads the rally by a margin of 1'00"2. He won 8 of the 9 first stages.
But for the 3 last stages, rain came. Maurin did a bad tyre choice, and Bouffier won by 22". He choose his tyre at the last moment, and that was the best possible.
The rain was really short (storm) and due to this, amator driver Xavier Baze wins the stage 10 with a C2 R2.
To my mind it is very concerning and frustrating for Hyundai the fact that their factory-car is a lot slower to a private car.i was expecting bouffier to win because of the support of a factory team and and the factory car.what is your opinion guys?i am very interested to hear.maybe i miss something.

Col de Braus I think :)
Eric Brunson stops his season. The Fiesta is to sell, and can be rent (until his sell) with First Motorsport.
We don't know if he'll be back, it's maybe the end of his carrier. I hope he will start in D2 championship next year...
Belgian Kevin Demaerschalk will run the 208 Cup round of next week's Rallye terre de Langres :)
Yes he bought the Fiesta, but First is the team who run it for him. They did it in France for Marc Barbé too, and Snobeck in the past.
Now the car can be rent, with First assistance.
D2 championship will be a new championship next year. It will be run in the higher coefficient french cup events, and probably there will be more events in the Northern part of France (maybe Dieppe, Routes du Nord, Epernay, Bretagne, ...). For the moment we don't know the calendar.
A such championship existed some years ago, but finished by dying. But today, amator drivers in Northern part of the country are too far from the center of the national championship (most of the races are in the south-eastern part of France, except Touquet - Limousin isn't in south eastern part, but close to).
And national events with coeff 5 for french cup pushed the FFSA. They want to be in national championship, but FFSA didn't too turn over in races. So FFSA will create a championship for them. (FFSA is french national federation)
A flashback to the Riviera. Watch and listen those amazing cars:

Fantastic run by portuguese driver Diogo Gago in the french 208 Cup this week-end(Rallye terre de Langres/gravel event)

3rd overall in the cup and fastest time on SS7 this sunday morning :)
Crazy jumps from this week-end's Rallye terre de Langres

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...19533820_n.jpg Nice livery for Quentin Gilbert, he will drive the DS3 WRC of Pereira in Rallye de Rouergue next week. Wondering what he can do against Maurin-Fiesta WRC... :)
Maurin with Fiesta R5. Gilbert will be the man to beat.

Pitty... At least there is quick local driver Da Cunha with a DS3 WRC as well... :)
It's really a strange year for tarmac champ, as no one really wants to be champion.
It wasn't Maurin's goal, but as he is leading ... he will take the point, and I think he will be for a second year champion.
Nantet is there only because he was banned of French cup ...
Salanon don't do a full year.
Cuoq don't care about tarmac.
Brunson stopped rally.
Beaubelique's goal is amator championship.
So ok, there is still Pierre Roché ...
But as each time, entry list is really beautiful.
For Rouergue, still really good, with Gilbert and da Cunha for a DS3 victory. Lets count on Roché's Mini to be there in the top of the race, and let's see how good will be Marty with a Focus WRC (finished 4th in Lyon with a Mini WRC).
What can do Maurin with R5 ? For sure a podium, Rouergue is a difficult race, so if he finishes ...
Great S2000 field too, with fast south of France drive Franck Lions, Feghali from Lebanon, Ragues from ELMS, ...
It's quite a strange regulation, done last year. A driver can't compete in the final of the french cup if he finished in the top three of the last french championship.
To be honest, this regulation was done only to prevent Nantet to take part to it ...
Yes right, he is not allowed to take part to the final.
It's a strange rule, because drivers in france championship are all amator drivers, and they can do what they want. And why Top 3, not top 5, top 10, ... ?
This rule was done only after that Nantet announced he would leave french championship and come back to the cup with his GT10 Porsche ...
You can banned cars, as it's done (WRC, GT+ and for next year RRC can't take point), but why drivers ? There's no professionnal drivers, so let's them do what they want.
In our Czech cup there is some similar rule as well. Nobody with international license can take part. Besides that the cup is limited to only 2WD cars.
http://rally-image.be/foto/0428/index.php My photos from Rallye Terre de Langres are (finally) online. Spectacular event, as always in French gravel championship. And again the cups make it worth following. What we've seen from the 208's is just stunning. Wondering how long it will take before we see Charles Martin in international rallying... :)
Nobody following Rallye Aveyron Rouergue here?
After 6 stages Olivier Marty is leading, with a Focus WRC. 50s behind him there's Da Cunha, with DS3 WRC. Quentin Gilbert with Pereira's DS3 WRC already 1min11s behind, while Maurin lost "only" 1min24s to the leader. Quite disappointing performance from Quentin Gilbert so far... In Rallye le Touquet he did much better with a C4 WRC.

Indeed! Maurin will be in the WRC2 asphalt events a podium candidate. And Gilbert is not on a good run.. Slow this weekend not so good results with Dmack Fiesta including crashes..

Gilbert career could end this year if he don't change his way of doing rally. Still the immature boy he was in France. In a national level, that can work ... in a worldwide level, you're quickly out of the game.
Not fast, not reliable ... other young frenchmen are now pushing to have an international chance.
Really impressed by Marty. He wasn't good last year in Opel Cup, but it seems he refinds a good drive with WRC this year (good drive with Mini in Mont Blanc, really great there !).
Still a good drive by Feghali, 5th !
Rouillard won amator trophy, against Nantet. Great drive ! As for Raynal and his old Escort :)
Other impressive is Rossel, new Rallye Jeune, and leading DS3 R1 at one stage from the end.
Final result :
1 Marty (Focus WRC)
2 da Cunha (DS3 WRC) 1'21
3 Gilbert (DS3 WRC) 1'30
4 Maurin (Fiesta R5) 5'00 (had a problem during the last stages)
5 Feghali (207 S2000) 5'24
6 Rouillard (Porsche 997 Cup) 6'09
7 Roché (Mini WRC) 6'24
8 Nantet (Porsche 997 Cup) 6'37
9 Raynal (Escort RS Cosworth) 7'00
10 Bonnefis (Porsche 996 GT3) 8'24
...

Decent list, I hope PG will not really start...
Still, looking forward to it :)
You were faster than me to write it Dupanton :D
I hope this time Kevin Demaerschalk won't be forfait as he was in Langres
