I’m guessing once he saw he wasn’t comfortable with the car and he did mention a number of times that the car isn’t turning and isn’t doing what he wants, he just managed his pace and made sure he’d get to the end, and even pushed on the power stage and as a result came away with 14 points this weekend. If his rivals, A. had better (more reliable) cars and B. took that approach more often, when they see they don’t have the pace, then perhaps this year would’ve been a different story.
Besides Fourmaux, Evans was a bit disappointing this weekend, his driving reminded me more when he was back in M-Sport, too ragged, too scruffy. Back to Tanak for a second, this weekend felt like the first time ever since he left from Toyota like his old self, coming to the rally, fighting for the win, his rivals falter and then he comes and dominates the event with 10 stage wins; If the car now has the pace, I hope they get they’re reliability sorted out soon so we’ll get an emphatic battle in Estonia-Finland-Ypres, NZ (fingers crossed) & Catalunya.
