you got it, the strange event is that Foyt is actually starting from the pole in his dirt track car after (I think) wrecking his Lotus in practice and having nothing else to race... talk about running what you brung!!Quote:

nice!! I have never seen that car in that configuration before... Goes to show just how much sdesign was seat of the pants in those days!!
Story goes that Parnelli Jones had a the press at Phoenix for the unveiling and Al Unser drove it first on track. He pulled back in and he was white as a ghost according to Mario. Unser then told them tell the press the car broke as it is junk and would not drive it again until it was changed. After the changes it was a competitive car in 1972.
