any details? Scotland makes me want to go... Good old RAC rally from ancient times (well, part of it) worth visiting.
Assuming that the Grampian Rally will be the candidate event (right area & already a BRC round), it will be interesting to see if there are any WRC competitors on the entry list. It's a week after Finland and there's 2½ weeks after the Grampian to get to Paraguay for the recce, so it should be possible for current WRC contenders to travel to Aberdeen for a look.
Ogier 2026 plans revealed ...
https://rallyjournal.com/new-details...iers-wrc-plan/
I know we're still a bit far off but if Safari Rally Kenya doesn't get an extension for 2027 & beyond, is it likely we'll see Rally Mexico back for '27 or since the Rally in the USA is the target, that will take it's place?
Reports are saying they're talking to other places in Africa.
Do you guys think the Rally in Saudi Arabia will go ahead as planned? I know it's only in November but with this ongoing situation wouldn't there be repercussions regarding the rally or the Dakar rally over there for next year?
Great, final event should be
From Ogier’s comments regarding the event, he said he wishes to see it as end of season but to his understanding at least next year it won’t be, but who know, maybe with the ongoing situation in the middle-east that 10 year deal in Saudi will drop sooner rather than later.
Check out the BRC Grampian Stages 2025 for how dry and dusty it can be in Scotland...

Surprised no one posted this but after 8!!! long years we could be returning to Argentina!
Dust and the Midges!
I remember being in some stages in the 80’s when it was impossible to stay because of the midges….it was horrendous.
I don’t know how the roads are now, but back then they were rough with big, sharp stones that used to cause loads of punctures.
In 1983 I recall being stood somewhere with my dad and one of the Rothmans Mantas, I think Erwin Weber, kicked up a massive rock and it struck the fella next to me on the head. Stage was cancelled, ambulance in…he was in a right mess.
Back in the days when people used to rally BMC Minis there were two designs of sumpguard. The standard steel guard that protected the gearbox sump casing and the "Scottish" guard that also protected half of the floor. The Scottish was that rough then that cars needed extra underbody protection!
Neuville: I envy Tänak because he decided to stay home

' a chance of no deal'......
Huh? No deal? why...
I think that way before they had some sort of interest from JPMorgan, then that didn't quite relized, and then had nothing, now Cosmobolis came and show interest, but even that isn't quite sure if it's gonna be. That's why they are delaying everything. Whole thing came at the wrong time... So it's making WRC situation even worse. I think there is just not any real interest to buy out promoter rights.
I won’t create an official Rally Estonia topic just yet since none of this is confirmed, but there was a short news about Rally Estonia 2026 on the local news and…
1. The start list will include five historic Group A and B cars (not sure if it’s five in total or five from each group).
2. They will test a shorter format, meaning a maximum of 12 hours of driving and 12 hours of rest. I’m not sure if this refers to the time from when a driver leaves the service park until they return, so that all stages fit within that window.
3. The stages will be mostly the same as last year, with some minor changes.
4. Basically confirmed that Ott Tänak will start... or I don't know... maybe other Estonians can confirm :D

BYD entry rumour in 2027
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Dkcct5uuZ/
Maybe that will be the way to enticite manufacturers into the WRC. First with tuner project, and then manufacturer take over financialy theough those tuners. Sometimes it's better as people can actually make a proper car.
My source told FIAT based. That BYD rumour makes little sense for me.
To be fair FIAT makes little sense. But it could be for both. I think particularly the BYD rumour is spread by people who haven't quite grasped that RMC don't need anyone. It was Lynk & Co and M-Sport until Milliner shot it down.
In absence of more information I think it's more likely a FIAT production engine block in an entirely RMC design. And that's it.
Announcements were saying that the design will be based on 'classic rally lines', so it would be something whack if it'll be a FIAT approved 131 quasi-replica.

Edit: Maybe scratch that, "The origin of its powertrain is yet to be decided, although the team confirmed it is in discussions with a current Rally2 car maker over engines." https://www.autosport.com/wrc/news/a...ctor/10814868/
WRC27 will be like Frankenstein cars.
I'm a big fan of symmetry. Not...

According to Ogier the current Toyota drivers who have tested it are not fans of their WRC27 prototype. Plus they're struggling to make it better than the GR Yaris Rally2.
He implies he'll likely retire after 2026 as the new Rally2-spec cars dont interest him. He's just going to enjoy the Rally1 cars while he can, then probably try something completely different.
Ogier:
“I haven’t tried the future car yet, but my team-mates don’t seem to have taken much pleasure driving it and tend to say it is slower than our Yaris Rally2,” Ogier said.
“It is still at an early stage of development, but it shows that these new regulations are a step backwards in terms of performance, and in my view that is not ideal for what is supposed to be the elite of the discipline,” he added.
“If I had to decide on my future today, I don’t think there would be one for me, but I will give myself time to see. For now, the idea is to enjoy one last time this season with these really nice cars, and at some point I will have to move on to something else.”

And then he will still driving for another 10 years on a half programme and literally every season fight for title. He tried something else and failed. He is just not that persistent as Loeb is.
