Yep, would've been a lot closer to Andreas without his off. Would be nice if we have a big battle for the win between a few drivers but doesn't look like it atm

We shouldnt be surprised at all.. Mikkelsen won here last time and has the road position.
Extra benefit of Ogier's gear issue too so I think he has a great chance to win again.
I am going to sleep.Goodnight guys.
Surprised to see no more comments over Lefebvre's time. His first proper performance of the year and nobody bats an eye!

Watched SS1, near the spectator zone, it's close enough to the start that you can hear the cars launching off the start line, there was some hanging dust, but certainly not bad and it cleared with plenty of time for next car. We watched entire field (so 2 hours to get through them!), so only caught the tail of the field at SS3, going to wait here for it to run as SS6, then off to the Super Specials tonight.
SS3/6 is slightly damp underfoot, but drying fast. Should be clean and dry and hard packed for second run. MSport guys said it was 21 degrees in the ground already here.
Couple of pics, I watched WRC cars rather than looking through the lense, so don't really have any pics of them. Citroens were definitely the most wild looking at the beginning of the stage!
SS1, slightly sideways Citroens, all much wider lines than the other cars:

Looking forward to seeing this in 6, it was very sideways in 3 but I didn't have camera handy:

Australian Police motorbikes... Some are friendly, some are very not friendly! We got moved on twice by them in SS1. At SS3 the cops are from a different area and very friendly:

Now waiting at SS3/6 for the repeat run on this corner:

now Ogier lost diffursor
Tanak damage

Ogier and Tänak (again) lost the diffuser and Evans has water in his car. after watersplash..how the ford is so fragile now?
Forgot to say that Ogier has again the gearshift issue
Twice stalled at stage end. No 1st gear for Ogier?
what shitty times for Tänak and Ogier with their problems...they will clean the road tomorrow
Great time from Thierry so far. Very fast

Decent times from Paddon. Hopefully he'll start resurging for next year.

Lets see what damage limitations ford drivers can do now on the long one, not the best day for them.
This is what I was expecting from the aerodynamics all season. Only Australia did it.
Nice splits from Tänak so far with his aeroless car
Meeks 2 spare tyres could ruin attack on Mikkelsen place at this loop
Great time Andreas. Seems like tyre choice didn't play a role at all which was strange, both sets working. Mikkelsens rally to lose now but a good battle for 2nd brewing. I'm off to sleep

So as it stands Ogier has 3 cars sweeping ahead of him tomorrow - that will even things up.
Pleased with the pace of the Citroens. I think people have mis-interpreted the 'Loeb' effect. I suspect Meeke was saying what they need to do all along but they weren't about to listen to the rosbif connard. Loeb just confirmed the car was a pile of crap and they then knew Meeke had been right all along.
So, SS6 was good fun, we managed to get away from the marshals and go down the stage about 1km from the junction we entered at and setup on a 90 degree right opening to a left and onto a straight. Very dusty for the first 6-8 cars, with aggressive cutting bringing more dirt out. The Hyundais and Evans all looked to understeer through here (around at 18-20km mark of the stage). The road had been worn down completely and was rock hard, so I imagine soft tyres would have been hard work!
Took pics of most of the WRC cars, so easy to compare lines. Managed to take pics of a lot of the field, so will spam you a bit now...

All 3 Citroens had bumper issues:

Paddon definitely looked to be struggling for grip:

Andreas less so, but difficulty turning it back the other way?

Kalle was tidy again:

As was Mike Young, interestingly he was faster than the WRC Trophy guy and most of the ARC Evos and Subarus, which is impressive on a relatively fast and flowing road:

Only one of the Japanese gentlemen drivers made it this far:

Pinter was ok, but not as committed as I was expecting:

Reeves was looking tidy and quick:
https://image.ibb.co/ir8rYR/DSC03144.jpg
Nathan Quinn had a left front puncture, which he was driving out on, so giving Molly Taylor a big advantage in the points I suspect:

S2000s were sideways and sounded glorious echoing through the trees:
https://image.ibb.co/mLc77m/DSC03150.jpg
to be fair everyone was loosing bits after the watersplash but M-sport the most. Already in Wales at the last stage you could also see Ogiers diffusor hanging and now they both lost it with Tänak, Tänak even twice....and not to mention losing the rear spoiler in poland and with Mads in sweden.
This article says it's the same system but it's just made broader to describe the road in greater detail
