M-Sport quotes after morning loop.
Mads Østberg (4th) said:
“I’m very pleased with our morning. We made the perfect tyre choice and now that the car is working well we are exactly where we should be. It’s fantastic to know that when everything comes together, we are right there in the fight. That’s what we all believed from the beginning and now that it’s confirmed it’s a really good feeling.
“This afternoon we just need to continue what we have been doing this morning. I’m sure there will be some road cleaning on the second pass so it certainly won’t be easy, but we will fight as always for the best position."
Éric Camilli (24th) said:
“It was a good start to the morning. An even better start than the one we made in Portugal and we felt really good with the car. Unfortunately, we ended up with only two-wheel drive and lost a lot of time but the most important thing is that we made it through the stages and are able to continue this afternoon.
“Of course it was disappointing as without it we could have been fourth or even third right now! We know that – we know that we are competitive – and that is a very important thing for the future.”
Beautiful coastal backdrop with Martini Lancias parked alongside... :cool:

Tänak's tyres after first loop
http://rallifoorum.ee/foorum/download/file.php?id=307
Seems that those new gravel DMACKs suffers the same issues as Pirellis when it's hot outside.
At least they don't jump off the rims like it was for the whole last year in Kubica case.
He is stated as retired - http://rally-base.com/crew-profile/c...7&crewId=29848
Thank you!!
Other issue: Lorenzo Bertelli si doing much better than ever before.
He has one stage with problems SS4, puncture, off, damper and diff failure. (he said this order, but maybe puncture was after off), otherwise onle 1,3 to 1,6 secs off the pace.
Not that is something special, just a side note.

Our Norwegian @MadsOstberg is playing the long game this afternoon. Hindered with an extra spare now, but could be an advantage later.
Mads Østberg @MadsOstberg
I expect tyre wear so have 1 ex spare. Will lose time, but it's worth it.
Suninen is crazy fast on this stage.. no sweeping effect this time.
Paddon out of road at last corner.
Paddon off in the last corner...damn, 2 rallies in a row retirement after win.
suninen lost time. don´t know why?
Paddon's car.....Quite heavy impact

Good job the grass isnt as long as in Portugal or it would be another i20 burned out.
Ostberg maybe regretting the choice of an extra wheel:
SS8 "Quite a good stage but I'm struggling with the balance of the car. In hindsight maybe just one spare tyre would have been a better choice."
@rallytravel
Officials do a fantastic job to clear a sudden rockfall - just before the arrival of Jari-Matti.

@JariMattiWRC
@rallytravel Please, thank them for me!
just thinking if there was Acropolis at 35+ celsious
Fri 17:30 - SS8: Tanak
He has a rear-left puncture and extremely worn front tyres. "These are the only tyres I have for the next stage. Okay, slicks it is then..."
Dmack seems has a LOT work to do.
It will be interesting how Hyundai will be handling this Paddon crash publicly and behind the doors as well.
Edit: meanwhile, Neuville is doing not so bad, looks like the fortunes might have changed.
i just feel so sorry for him :(
