Looks like the organizers are facing some technical glitches. I think we'll see many more time revisions for the concluded two stages going by comments made by Lavieille(Buggy Juke)Quote:

It's confirmed that Nasser's penalty was a mistake :) .Quote:

ARGENTINA CHILE PERU DAKAR 2013
Has anyone uploaded coverage yet?
Sainz had mechanical problems, he lost lot of times. Nasser win the stage by around 1' on Gordon and 3' on Peterhansel. On general classification Peter leads more than 6' ahed of Nasser. Other are far, as de Villiers who lost 31' !
And I saw Orlandini, he had lot of mechanical trouble ... don't know if he could restart.
In moto lot of change too. Husqvarna lost lot of time (don't know why), and Despres takes first position. Lopez wins the stage. At the opposite of cars it's still very closed in overall.
Alain Duclos changes his engine yesterday (in advance of 3 days), so he had a penalty. Without he would be 7th.

Kolomý was driving yesterday without turbocharger due to broken flange. Another Czech trucks had problems as Valtr (Liaz) lost turbo hose and the repair took half an hour. Vildman hurt his back in a big hole he hit.Quote:

03:01 : RACE OFFICIALS’ DECISION
The race officials for the car category,After having examined the report made by the Race Director,After discussions with the Race Director,After discussions with competitor number 303,After discussions with technical service provider ERTF,Have taken the following decision:Cancelation of the decision taken previously by the Race Management, on the following basis:The Race Management took its decision on 6th January 2013 further to a claim from competitor 303 on the basis of partial technical analysis proving that the main GPS experienced malfunctions.Comprehensive and more detailed analysis, based on the final report made by ERTF, in fact revealed that the second GPS was functioning correctly
From dakar site.
Yes, it's true. Mini appealed yesterday and officials admitted it because drivers have a second GPS on cars and it was proved it was working well. Nevertheless, Sainz uses it as mileometer.Quote:

Holowczyc's accident:

Sainz is always unhappy with something. Remeber a few years back he claimed his sentinel was broken, but he actually appeared to be not close enough to activate it. :DQuote:

Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between, but it's very pity from Sainz to twitt things like "wanna take the suitcases" http://ftalphaville.ft.com/wp-conten...humbs_down.gif
I think the organisation is a mess. Once taken a decision, they should stay with it. Certainly, they can't change it after the next stage. As mentioned here, Sainz had to start first,, which meant he lost even more time due to difficult navigation etc. That is not correct IMO.
Also, what was it with Al-Attiyah? He got a 1 hour penalty at first, and then it was gone again. What was de reason for that?
If Mini appealed they have to reconsider the decision. They can't say to Mini to f.u.ck. off...Quote:

They arrived at the hotel only about 2 hours ago! 17 hours after the crash, but are both ok.
No, but it means they didn't well consider everything before removing the time lost. If the make their decision properly, they should think about everything, so there is no reason to change their minds again...Quote:

How do You know? There are standard procedures and rights to appeal. Are You sure that something was done wrong? It's normal that against a steward decision there exist a right to appeal for other competitors. If there is no decision, there is naturally no appeal and vice versa. That means only in case of some decision taken there may be later an appeal claimed.Quote:

He rolled the sandcrawler? That one I got to see... :D Looking at the stage profile, Km 29 is on sand... I bet he went "yee-ha!" over a dune. :crazy:Quote:
