This is common thing in almost all asphalt countries. Usually it is a precondition from local authorities. Without measures to prevent road damage they often don't allow stage running there. I don't like it either but they are right. The damage to the asphalt roads caused by cutting can be in some cases really huge and somebody would have to pay the repairs.
Strangely for example here in CZ the majority of drivers like that (especially those from down the field who would otherwise drive in completely different conditions than those in front). On the other hand for example in Belgium drivers mostly refuse anti-cutting obstacles.
I noticed the Arab drivers on Rally Cyprus recently were taking huge cuts and nothing wad said...
As for France, those markers dont look right at all.. hay bails with metal inside would be better.
What's all the fuss about? It has been like this in Rallye de France since 2010, nothing changed...
