Following the rally route. He didn't follow the actual route but took a wrong turn and then came back.

In Finland there's been exclusion because crew overshot a junction in a road section. Codriver noticed his mistake right away but driver elected to drive 500 meters forward to make an (safe) U-turn at a bus stop. Someone saw this and reported it to the stewards. The crew was excluded.

It really is one of the most basic rules.

Yes definetely you have to follow the rally route all the time.

If this had happened to someone else than Citroen driver surely he would have excluded... Sadly the WRC is like a French kindergarten...

That depends on the situation, if he only turned left instead of right and he didn't pass any time control, turned around and passed timecontrol for regroup then i don't see any reason why he should be penalised. You can say he didn't follow rallyroute, but hey you will actually have to give penalty to all guys going off the road and coming back onto it after crashing. I don't find it unlogical he didn't get penalty. Instead we should enjoy the fight that is coming up.

I think you would have to exclude many, many drivers then. With a start platform of only 25 crews there won't be too much at finishline. :D

That´s true also. Hopefully the rules are same for everyone after this, but we will see...

yesterday we had a first taste of the competitiveness between the new wrc cars.Citroen had the upper hand by a good margin we can say.Today with Sebs having handicap due to start order it is going to be a lot clearer.Fingers crossed for fiestas to be competetitivefor the sports good.
