Rallye Sumava Klatovy starts on Saturday. Be careful. Rallying can be dangerous:

I went to spectate Rally Sumava one week ago. It was my first time at the Czech rally championship event in many many years. I remember the times when it was either Pech or Kopecky who were winning all rallies over there. But now, I think there is finally a changing of guard. Kopecky and Pech finished in the 3rd and 5th positions respetivelly and didn't even win one stage. The rally was dominaed by a fierce battle between Simon Wagner (Hyundai) and Filip Mares (Toyota). It was Wagner who was faster at the finish line, but Mares was only 0.1 s behind the Austrian! What a battle until the last stage! :)

But that was not my last trip to Czech Republic :) One week later I visited Rallye Kraliky, a local event that was organized just a few kilometres behind the Polish-Czech border. It wasn't a high level rally, but it was an ideal place to spend a long weekend in the mountains. It was also a good opportunity to see all kinds of rally cars from many eras on one event. I like the variety of Czech rallies. I wish we had events like that in Poland.

Kopecky seemed back on form at Rally Český Krumlov.. any ideas why? Tyres? Gelling with new co-driver?
On the flipside Stritesky seemed well off the pace this time.
It was nice fight with unpredictable weather, like always in Krumlov. Kopecký was winner, he didnt made any mistake and always chose correct tyres. Mares was his closest rival, but for second loop he has chosen wrong tyres and lost a lot of time. On Saturday he was trying to push, but made a mistake - spun and ditch, so he is happy to be third. Second overall is Erik Cais, who had slow beginning, especially because of wrong tyre choice. But consistency and no mistakes helped him. Simon Wagner was fastest on Saturday and very fast on Friday, but on the last longest stage of first leg he had technical issues and lost one and half minute. Dominik Stříteský lost on beginning with wrong tyre choice. His main target was to finish the rally after bad start of the season in ERC and learn new tyres in different conditions. Adam Březík was not so fast after his crash in Šumava, he didnt believed himself on fast narrow roads with jumps. Víclav Pech retired very soon as he got two punctures on one stage. Very good result made again Jan Kundlák, with his lack of experience with 4WD car and with one of the oldest R5 cars in the field he made really great job and finished 5th before Březík, Kohn and others.
Thanks :)
I also read that Kopecky had the updates on the car which he feels helped him.
