Very spectacular!
By the way if anyone wants to see Fabia R5 testcar live he can go to Rally Bohemia next week. Lappi shall drive it as zero car.

The only negative thing is that I won't be there since the date clashes with my annual attendance on one rock festival :p
Sure
Are they also sending Kopecky with a Fabia S2000 so they can do a back-to-back over the whole event?
I guess this will force Skoda to finally admit the test car exists!
Yes, Kopecký, Scandola and Wiegand with S2000!
Only Skoda.be is missing :p
Unfortunately I'm almost certain that this option was already abandoned...
I meant Freddy not the presence of the car alone. That certainly is possible.
I thought Freddy was an/the official test driver?
If they are running it on Bohemia I would expect it on Barum too, but not sure who with as Lappi and Wiegand will certainly drive the rally and I guess Kopecky too. Baumschlager?
Skoda is following the same recepie as with the S2000 and VW in the development of their 'Panzerwagen' Polo WRC.
A lot of testing, development, more testing, development, testing last development and then Launch and use by Skoda Motorsport, and then start to sell it.
A bit different than the Ford and the PSA twins. But it has been working perfectly in the past, so lets see this time around.

Lappi was driving today, one short video on Youtube.
Knowing problems others have had with R5 reliability on rough surfaces, maybe Skoda are spending more time than normal in Greece.
Some more photos of Fabia III stock mule. Still with stickers but general lines are visible. Looks like first generation with sharp edges to me.

with wide fenders and bumpers will be much better/aggressive than the current one.
The current Fabia S2000 in tarmac spec is a nice looking car, but I think this Fabia3 will be a much better starting point :)

The car looks to be working well; Fabia S2000 looks quick too but the revvy sound probably gives an illusion it is quicker than it really is.
The R5 cars sound best when they are revving high or hit the rev limiter.

Lappi confirmed for Bohemia:
As well as its historic significance, this year’s Rally Bohemia is also important to ŠKODA in terms of the brand’s future motorsport activities. The current European Championship leader and ŠKODA works driver Esapekka Lappi will test the new 1.6-litre turbo engine for the new ŠKODA Fabia R 5 under race conditions for the first time. This is the car, with which ŠKODA will compete in the R5 category at international rallies as of 2015. Lappi will complete the test on selected stretches of the Rally Bohemia route in a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 fitted with the new engine.
In accordance with FIA regulations, the new R5 rally car is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo engine. “The development of the Fabia R 5 is progressing nicely. We are on schedule,” said ŠKODA Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek. “The first test under competitive conditions is a big step towards achieving homologation by mid-2015,” said Hrabánek.
