Finally it is good to see someone with sufficient self discipline and knowledge to know when to go fast and when to be a little more prudent. His time will come.
You know there are dozens of drivers who are able to reliably drive for 8-10th place. Unless You want to pay for Your driving You have to show more if You want to get to works team. The circumstances are sure bad and we could see that when Juho Hänninen in very similar situation had also problems to catch the speed without proper testing but still he was much faster (although with mistakes). I think that in these one offs nobody really care about reliability but about speed. It is off course different if there is some long-term program already set. Than it would make sense to catch experience step by step. But if it's just one drive than finishing 9th means less than few top 5 times without finish. It's just my opinion...
Agree 100%. Meeke was a good example of speed in one off drives in NORF and Australia and, as you mention, Hanninen too.
Also some predicted that a fast S2000 driver like Paddon would have no problem adapting to a WRC car. It's a different ball game in reality.
Re: Rally RACC España Catalunya
The nearest car to Paddon is 6 minutes away. Points for 9th might be more important than 10th, or getting a DNF for Malcom?

I appreciate you looking for positives but I think Paddon himself will be very unhappy with his results. Best stage time of 8th fastest not good. He's talented and perhaps with more testing/experience things may have been different.

That was me :) But it's a little misunderstanding. In my opinion driving DS3 RRC or WRC is no big difference, there is no reason for that (same for Fiesta RRC/WRC or Mini RRC/WRC). If there was a Fabia WRC made out of the S2000 I'm sure it would be much easier for Paddon (or Hänninen) as well but from what Juho said himself there is really big difference between Fabia and Fiesta. On the other hand Paddon drove Fiesta S2000 in some occasions so he might know how Fords are working. Anyway it's nice example of armchair discussion :)

JML will push during the 2nd run - hands up all those who thought he would have binned it already?

Yap and second run no cleaning effect. I hope the dust remains.

And the next armchair topic up for discussion will be Kubica on wet, frozen gravel in a WRC car .....:)

Definitely :) Just came to my mind what Ogier did in his first ever WRC stage on the frozen mud of Wales...
