I don't think he's a tourist either. And to be honest I think more often then not he is on the same level as Ostberg pace-wise - as long as he can keep it on the road. For sure Mads is more consistent - but look at the massive difference in WRC car experience between the two guys.

Latvala/Ostberg: 4S+2H Ogier/Camilli/Paddon/Neuville: 5S Mikkelsen : 4H+2S Sordo: 4S+1H

Neuville now 8,3 sec from Mikkelsen.
Sordo 3,7 behind Neuville.
