And I simply do not understand the mentality whereby speed is everything. The Italian Grand Prix in 1971 was the fastest F1 race in terms of average speed for some 30 years. The fact that average speeds thereafter were not as high did not kill the sport stone dead. Maybe the F1 enthusiast of that period was rather more discerning.
