Breen was on the limit and maybe over it on a few occasions but got away with it but i would be interested on the views of our Belgian friends on the video of Cherains off - did he panic a bit and keep on the brakes too long ? would he have went around the corner if he left off the brakes ???

Happy to have a contract for next year.. a lot of ‘young’ talent coming through! @Yves_Matton
Well, I don't understand your point?? I'm really positevly surprised over Citro's boss times....what more can you expect out of an less than an amateur driver? We can not call him a "gentelman driver", because gentelman driver drives his WRC toy at least few times per season...Matton as far as I know does this once per year; if he does at all.
And don't give me a crap that he seats in much more powerfull car than the rest....I can not imagine one sunday driver in WRC car winning a stage when factory driver(s) are around you.
Judging from stage times today's stages are obviously a lot about top speed.
I don't expect from Matton to be faster from Cherain. Is it so hard to understand thst I mean Lefebvre and Breen?
amazing sound from 911s with limiter at top speed

De Mevius is doing great today after his mechanical problems yesterday.
Excellent end of our season, had a really nice day yesterday. Some good spots and some big moments!

You will see the same everywhere in Belgium, I would say the average Belgian stage is probably only 8kms long. Take a look at Google maps in the regions where Belgian rallies are held. There are a lot of towns/villages, and a lot of big roads. To make a long stage you would need to either cross some villages, or close some big roads (which usually have a lot of traffic). It's probably difficult to get permission for all that. The last stage of today was actually shortened by a few kms (a month ago) so they wouldn't use an important road. Anyway, on these short stages you still have plenty of ways to access them. For example the first stage of the rally, Amay-Bodegnée (4,5kms long) had 17 access roads to the stage, including start and finish... So you need a lot of marshalls to handle all the spectators (something the organizers can't/won't do anyway). Having more shorter stages also makes the decision to cancel one (if needed) easier.
Video of Joost online too!

@tommeke_B
thanks for the very useful infos
Many videos! And each video has same spot, if didn't know that rally contain 12 unique stages - thought that have only one.
Good drive from Cherain. The difference between Skoda and DS3 has also something to do with it off course.
Lefebvre could have been faster when he had the same gearbox as Breen. His gear ratio was very short.
The organiser keeps struggling with safety measures. Women with baby-strollers in the run-off area, only in Wallonia.
Fabia suits better Cherain because of a more balanced car instead "nervous" ds3?

A few thoughts on a great rally.
Although safety was traditionally quite poor, with very few marshalls, I really enjoyed the rally. As you also can see in several videos, a lot of the drivers were on (over) the limit.
Breen and Lefebvre, crazy and very fast, visibly world class
Cherain was very very very fast, but not so wild and sideways, very nose end first. Unfortunately, the rally ended nose end first against a tree...
Bouche, Dilley, Verschueren, De Mevius etc also did a very solid job, but the last two were unlucky.
Duval was a big disappointment. No good stage times and looked off the pace. I expected a lot more from him! In the end both Hyundais retired with a broken oil sump... Not good!
Matton was a good surprise. He was amongst the fastest WRC drivers. Not bad at all for a gentleman driver who only does a few events a year. Although his scratch was on a fast and flowing stage, it is still quite impressive! Also Van Woensel and Canal-Robles (first time in a 4WD car and 6th overall!) were very good.
Also nice to see, Bergkvist was spectacting on Sunday, but I also saw Griebel on a stage!
