The production will be probably quite slow at the start, only located in Mladá Boleslav and not in Russia, China and India where Fabia is also produced (I believe).
The homologation of 208 was postponed several times unofficially because of overheating issues. Now the car have four starts and two retirements because of overheating. That looks serious.
Ucci retired due to overheating?
Yes, at least it says that in the Italian Rally news thread.
Let's see if Citroen guys managed to solve the overhating problem.
this is with google translator.If the translate is right the problem was from a ''sleeve'' Really serious problem...
also at 1st stage was raining and Ucci was on Pirellis.
"But the news of the day is that of the retirement of Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi, stopped by a problem with the engine of his new Peugeot 208 Turbo 16 R5 A strong loss in the cooling system of the car, breaking. Than a sleeve, he advised the Tuscan retreat, after 55 consecutive arrivals. "
In Abbrings car during Acropolis welding on radiator broke, cooling fluid leaked and that caused overheating.
I heard also about coolant leak in Andreuccis car, but that's not confirmed
There could still be a change of seeing a Skoda R5 from the beginning of 2015. Of course they (Skoda) have made their own decision but the regulations could make it possible.
ARTICLE 13: PROVISIONAL HOMOLOGATION
Manufacturers have the possibility of obtaining provisional Group N or in Group A (in this case, the necessary information must be added in the complementary information section of the VK-S2000-Ra form) homologation of the family and the model from which the kit is derived, before the total production necessary for definitive homologation has been reached, on condition that:
- cars of the model and family under consideration are freely on sale to customers;
- the total production of the family under consideration (25,000 units), and of the model under consideration (2500 units), is completed before the start of the last event in the Championship of the current year;
- all other homologation requirements are fulfilled.
If the full production is not completed before the deadline, the manufacturer:
- will be excluded from all the results of the current year;
- will be fined a considerable sum of money;
- will be suspended for one year.
They could quite easily do that, I mean they are clearly going to produce more than 25,000 Fabias in a year unless the world ends.
March wouldn't be so bad though, they would only have to miss a couple of events as Peugeot did this year.
Finally Pieter Tsjoen on 4 rounds of belgian championship(from Ypres)in a 208 T16 ;)
No that was always the plan..

We were talking a while back about the torque of S2000 engines. Skoda claim 253NM @ 7000RPM, although they also only claim 275BHP....
http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/motorsp...rs/fabia-s2000
That's utter nonsense, don't waste Your time with it ;)
What interested me was it was the first time I had seen them claim a torque figure. If it's wrong by the same factor as the power figure then 300NM looks realistic.

M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson is considering bolstering his company’s presence in the FIA European Rally Championship by fielding one of his WRC stars in a Ford Fiesta R5 on selected events.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz is flying the flag for M-Sport’s Fiesta R5 project in the ERC and has shown great pace on his three appearances so far this season, landing a podium on the most recent round in Greece. However, Wilson wants to ensure that the Fiesta R5 continues to run at the head of the field in the face of opposition from Peugeot’s 208T16, so is looking into the possibility of getting another star name into one of his cars alongside Kajetanowicz, the four-time Polish champion.
“I’ve no plans to at the moment but there’s nothing to say that we won’t put Ott Tänak out,” said Wilson. “I need to make sure our cars are winning wherever possible so we will probably do something.”
With Kajetanowicz not including the Discover Northern Ireland Circuit of Ireland Rally on his schedule for 2014 with the LOTOS Rally Team, Robert Barrable will be the lone Fiesta R5 representative when the ERC resumes in Belfast from 17-19 April.
There's loads of Fiests R5's been sold and been running for months so they should be in the ERC in numbers already...
Its a shame that M-Sport themselves need to enter drivers to get the car competing and winning.
Why? Peugeot is doing the same thing with Breen and Abbring.
Yes, but the 208T16 has only just been launched/homologated and few have been sold yet.
The Fiesta R5 has the following stats and there should surely be more than one in the ERC...
Launched midway through 2013, the Fiesta R5 has become one of M-Sport’s most successful models, with close to 70 orders placed. The Cumbrian-built cars have been shipped to customers in 21 countries and have claimed 27 class wins and ten outright victories.
M-Sport’s Fiesta was the first R5 to be homologated and, as rival models from Peugeot and Citroen have been a long time coming, it has become the weapon of choice in the World Rally Championship’s WRC2 class.
Category leader Yuriy Protasov drives one, as does the man in second, Lorenzo Bertelli. No fewer than 14 cars lined up for the start of Vodafone Rally de Portugal.
ESSENTIAL FIESTA R5 STATS
FACT FIGURE
Number of shells completed 50
WRC2 victories 4
WRC2 stage wins 92
WRC2 podium clean-sweeps 2
Number of days as the only R5 on the market 234
If I'm not mistaken Fiesta R5 has not yet won in ERC, right? It participated in a lot of events while Peugeot won already in first start...
True, I forgot about Rajd Polski. Thanks
I tend to disagree. For example in Barum both Valoušek and Kostka who drove the R5 managed to finish on podium with Fabia S2000 in the years before. They are "just" locals but very capable on home soil. Anyway what I meant is the marketing value where Peugeot managed to win out of the box while M-Sport struggles despite having the car competing for a reasonable time.
No, it's not. It's completely different car. The two share no main components. They only look a bit similar...
Chassis 7 to Andreucci
I have the feeling that the 208 is quicker than the Fiesta, but I would like to see a known quantity driver in the Fiesta so we know more. Kajetanowicz is for sure a good driver, but I don't think we know quite how good outside Poland.
I think MSport would be well advised to assist one or two strong entries for some ERC events (Basso?).
Or Ypres could be good preparation for Evans and Hirvonen for Rallye Deutschland :)
In a nutshell: looking forward to Ypres Rally! :) :) :)
