Nice trivia for Hirvonen:
- win for Fiesta s2000 in it's first race (Monte)
- win for Fiesta RS WRC in it's first race
And that has been both the first and last victory of Fiesta in IRC. Hopefully it's better with in WRC.Quote:

But when pushed by Solberg's car the start button of Loeb's Citroen was pushed and so it used outside help to get it's engine running. I am not an engine specialist, but I haven't seen a car which suddenly starts by itself when pushed.Quote:

Where is written that You can't start engine while being pushed? That's why rules must be written clear so as they don't allow to weave. I don't defend Citroën, I don't like that either but I can see that it's very difficult to judge such situation under given rules.
Anyway maybe stewards don't talk about that at all because they were not informed or they don't want...
I have wrote an article about it, but it is only in czech, as usually (http://www.autosport.cz/clanek.php?cl=11761). They should push the car to the side of the road, there was lot of place. But they were pushing it directly towards with clear idea to start the car. But the main problem should be, that nobody will do with it. Lot of organisers there, competitors relation officer Jacky Jung was there, but I think there will be no info to stewards...

Loeb's car was blocking the rally route. Liasion section is part of the rally route. Therefore, rules were not broken. It's just a coincedence that the car started.
No need to use brains when there's a law (=rule) to follow. It's really stupid, but that's how it is. The law is practised how it is *written* - not how it's interpretted. Then again, people argue in courts how the situation (=breaking the law) should be interpretted from the law's perspective. LOL :D
This is common problem in juridical philosophy. The law must be obeyed at all times, in any situation. If it would not be obeyed, the whole Western system of State and the "institution of agreement" (there has to be a 3rd party to enforce that the agreement is obeyed - and if not, it has the power to give sanction(s)="An agreement without a sword (=the state) is just mere words with no meaning") Example: A poor man's wife is dying to a fatal disease and the man steals medicine that can cure his wife because he can't afford the medicine. I think we all can agree that the man did the right thing. However, he broke the law. And one who has broken the law and is captured has to undergo a trial and a possible sentence. Total bullsh*t from a moral perspective, but a law is a law. Once it's not obeyed it's time for total anarchy.
Rally itself was great! Lots of action, great fighting in the top5 to the last minute and some very, very memorable situations; PG's off in the first proper stage, Sandell's near miss, Patterson driving, etc. etc. New cars are awesome even though I'm not used to them quite yet. Fastest SS times for several different drivers, fighting till the end in the top5, big offs, great conditions, nice atmosphere and suberb route. This rally had it all and liked it. A lot. :)
No matter what the stewards must be totally isolated or dead if they didn't notice something "interesting" happened on the live covered stage. That's the only part of the rally that you can see even if you're stuck in race control! Back when I worked at the rally and worked with getting live coverage online together (that was in -07) they were literally waving their hands in there when they finally got to see live action. Some guys hadn't seen any competitive action (live) of the Swedish Rally for ten years because they were always stuck in race control :PQuote:

This is reaaally funny. I don't think it ever happened before on the WRC, did it?
I'd just like to hear their talking in there.
Well, how entertaining was that? Admittedly, Sweden is often one of the less 'predictable' events, but nonetheless I think this has to have been the most interesting WRC round for years. Will the rest of the season match up? Possibly not, but I'm more hopeful now for the future. One point that does come to mind, though — given Citroen's slight struggle against the Fords, the Minis will have to be seriously good straight out of the box to get anywhere near. Let's see.
So happy 'cos of live wrc TV.. :)
What a fantastic rally! I hope the rest of them are as exciting as that:-)
I swore in that video the guy in the red jacket was pushing the car when they started to push it first.

Any official quotes about Loeb's trouble after the last stage?
Seems that is only subject to the antidoping control for some drivers, I think they will not make nothing with it.Quote:

As I told before, everything was correct according to the rules. Car was blocking the road, another Citroen tried to push it away to clear the rally route and during that pushing process Loeb forgot 2 gear in and accidentally released the clutch and car got going again! Simple as that!Quote:

Loeb had some luck after all. If he would have been the last Citroen then I cannot imagine Latvala, Hirvonen or Östberg pushing him :-P
i think nowadays a peek at the laptop connecting to the cars ecu is worth more than a peek under the bonnet...they can do that in service anyway.Quote:

Chris Patterson should be completely ashamed of himself, can't believe that he was slower than Matt Wilson
Antidoping control to Matt Wilson ? Swedes have a great sense of humour.
Great start to the season and beautiful scennery.
I would have liked to see Mads on the highest step, it was so close. Big congrats to him and to Ford.
TV stage is a good thing, hope the championship won't be decided by those extra points though.
Last driver to take extra points in the last stage was Auriol in Ruuhimäki 99, he also won the powerstage in Corsica while Mäkinen also took (2+2) 4 points in Corsica and Finland but it eventually didn't interfere in the race for the title with Burns.
Now heading to Mexico, looking forward to seeing what sideway action those tiny rally cars are capable of.
i think its quite justifiable actually....i mean after all that experience and still be completely useless and a cheap joke ?? ...he must be on drugs.Quote:

Remember also Catalunya and Corsica 1999 with extra points for live tv stage..
yes...so far all rallies that have an announced itinerary have a power stage though...in 99 only selected events had them.
If I remember right, power stages before (99) were separate races and they were not counted to results of the whole event. If you were retired from the race you could still take part to the power stage. And that's what drives want the power stage to be...
