I think organisers help to pay the start of Tempestini and I think they are helping to start also to other foreign drivers. Like every year (for example last year Consani, Costenaro or Dumas)...

very nice livery!
Just catching up with the program preview of the Rally and Stephane said they will test the C3 R5 first time next week.
Lefebvre 7th in Madeira SD. Fastest was Vieira on the other Sports&You DS3. http://www.amaweb.pt/2017/ralivm/#

SSS chicane encounter
why so strange differences from stage to stage? is it dry?

Just started the livestream, Lefebvre stopped on stage.
gearbox for Lefebvre
Bad luck for Lefebvre. After the second loop Basso is leading just 8.3s ahead of Camacho. Silva and Nunes also on the fight for the win, as there's still a long way to go. Pires (EvoX) best Gr.N and Paixão (Clio R3) leading 2wd.
I'm positively surprised of João Silva here. I know that he knows the island pretty well as a local, but still a good performance!
what happened to Nunes? pretty fast till stage he had some problem. Also nice to see i20 r5 up to fabia/fiesta pace.

Unfortunately our CS-R3 suffered an incident on Rzeszow Rally today. Co-driver Eleonora Mori has been taken to hospital. We will update ASAP

Precautionary scans have confirmed that Eleonora Mori has suffered no injuries and will therefore be released from hospital soon.
seems big accident for Rosseti
Sadly, Nunes was forced to retire today (broken disc) but the fight for the win is still huge, with Camacho leading just 5.8s ahead of Basso! Silva in P3 is also doing a great job, but he’s a bit far now. Pires (EvoX) is on a class of his own in Gr.N and Soares (208) is now leading 2wd. Unlucky rally for Lefebvre: he returned in Rally2 but retired again during the morning. Still 4 stages to go and an overall win fight to be decided till the end; Madeira always provides epic fights!
Great live streams from RTP... always loved the Madeira Rally.
Camacho lead increased by 3.2s on SS17... now 7.9s. Nice.
Huge congrats to Camacho/Calado and to the Vespas/Delta Team; they’ve waited a long time for this home win and they finally got it! Basso wasn’t able to respond to Camacho strong pace on the last section and finished 2nd. Silva was a brilliant P3, ahead of Campos and Tempestini. Pires won Gr.N and Soares, the local young hope, took 2wd win. Another great Madeira Rally, with a fantastic coverage from RTP Madeira; well done!
Btw, PSA R5’s have finally become reliable cars (better late than never!). Probably this is their most successful year. Good for them, good for the sport!
Top 5
1. Alexandre Camacho/Pedro Calado – Peugeot 208 T16; 2h15m03,2s
2. Giandomenico Basso/Lorenzo Granai – Hyundai i20 R5; + 15,6s
3. João Silva/Rui Rodrigues – DS 3 R5; +1m41,7s
4. Miguel Campos/António Costa – Skoda Fabia R5; +2m48,9s
5. Simone Tempestini/Giovanni Bernacchini – DS3 R5; +3m50,7s
Ive been following the ERC rally in Poland but it was good to see the end of this one live on RTP.
I have also now watched quite a lot of the previous coverage via the RTP website as its available to watch anytime. :)

So is anyone surprised at how uncompetitive Lefebvre was? Yes I know he had a gearbox issue, but every stage he did complete he seemed to be a bit off the pace? And other WRC drivers who have competed in local events are generally consistently at least on the podium?
As I wrote in the thread about Lukyanuk - no, that's not true. I used our ERC/IRC Barum rally as an example because I know it best - but there alone Lappi, Neuville, Mikkelsen, Novikov, Tänak, Breen or Abbring have never achieved podium even though some started more than once there. You can take Ypres where for example Grönholm or Kankkunen failed etc. Every event requires some experience and being a very good driver isn't always enough to beat the lack of it.
Madeira is unique. Very rare see someone shining in first atempt
Neto was just looking for a new garden tent...no one got really hurt; mostly a scary moment for the officials.
In nowadays strict 2 pass recce it's harder to be immediately fast.
Btw, here's a nice clip using RTP Madeira footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF-IPFgqm5I
Belgian Joachim Wagemans did a very good job, leading R2 after 8 stages on his first attempt, but crashed after the flying finish on SS8... :(
