In my opinion also, especially with cars with top speed around 200 even on nascar oval...
on the tarmac section not the whole stage.....it is possible from a small part see here for example

Someone deleted penalties. I guess it's a mistake. I will look at it and add them again...Quote:

didn t get it....you mean that it is possible to have average 196km/h on 20km stage?
No, in my opinion it isn't possible at all until it's completely straight :)
for a moment you scared me :p :Quote:

A 20km Tarmac section makes this a very different stage compared with its previous incarnations. A twisty, narrow, sandy downhill opening section traverses many narrow bridges before connecting with the wide, fast Tarmac portion. The drivers are expecting to be able to take big cuts here, so we can expect some dazzling bravado mixed with circumspection on the worn-out gravel tyres.
my god the organisers are really that stupid.....20kms tarmac section ??? yes its impossible.Quote:

Well, AFAIK, the tarmac section is basically a straight road (because of cutting) for 20 kilometers. Maybe the 190+ average isn't correct, but it has to be over 160+... Mikko said that they were on the limiter for many kilometres pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa.
it stands...Quote:

lol...i do not know on rally.cz they had it then they withdraw it and now its back on....i guess we have to wait. I do not trust WRC.com in anything i only use that excuse of a site for splits only.
Will see, ss5 now!!
Penalty was added after the stage. So, it appears in overall calssiification after next stageQuote:

its not really necessary to post the results of every stage...most people in here watch them live as they appear. i would prefer if you could post some comments from drivers or other stuff since you are local and could have more info
Sorry, that average speed was not for all the 20km. It was the last 6km, where Latvala had average of 195... Nevertheless.
Is there a chance Latvala gambled with gear ratios, assuming his crew was allowed to change it for those stages?
From Latvala..
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91782Quote:
Hirvonen's team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala was comfortably fastest on the stage - and Ford's analysis revealed that the Finn was on the rev-limiter in top gear for the final 3.6 miles.
While Latvala's rivals lambasted the organisers for the decision to include the super-fast downhill section of asphalt at the end of SS4, Latvala blitzed the section to post the fastest time by almost 10 seconds.
M-Sport's data from the stage shows Latvala's average speed through the split section was 121.91mph.
Ford team principal Malcolm Wilson said: "I've never seen anything like this, it's absolutely incredible. The top speed of the car is only 125mph or something like that. He must have been on the limiter all the way through that section – I can't wait to see the in-car [video]!"
Latvala admitted he was as surprised as anybody when he saw the time.
"I was pushing hard," he said. "The car felt good, but I didn't expect the gap to be like this. It was quite exciting..."
No splits for Villagra after first one...
so for 6 km he was on limiter.Curious to see incar just to see what kind of airfield is this ss.Quote:

what an fantastic ride, cutting mega. Latvalla communicates a lot on the pace notes. Can someone tell me if he corrects the notes to be slower, or that it can been faster the next time
They have lot of "maybe gravel" notes which many of them JM changes to just "gravel", JM saying "Yes, here is gravel" or "Take the maybe away". Also few speed corrections and precise gravel calls like for example "It's only little gravel here".Quote:
