I have seen the photos and I have a question: Pech Jr. is still sponsored by EuroOil, but I thought a few months ago there was mention that the sponsorship was stopped?
Wim, i think you will have to wait a litlle bit, because all our Czech friends are out on the stages of Valasska, so nobody here to answer our questions unfortunally. :DQuote:

Yes, stages 9 and 10 are cancelled Walter, but I don't know the reason. :(
Edit: it seems that there is really bad news and a spectator is killed. :( : http://tn.nova.cz/zpravy/cernakronik...tri-mrtvi.html
If i understand it correctly it is even worse, they say three people killed and one heavily injured. :( What a tragedy again for our beloved sport. :(Quote:

Sorry: It must be Lapdavsky¨s Lancer Evo
Condolences to the families of late spectators...
Again stupid journalists will have a "good" anit-rally front news in tv and news papers :-(
After Kuzaj's crash it's again the same situation involved. The spectators were standing on the outside of the corner. Organizers/safety fault?
oh not again.... :(
rip
Terrible news
RIP

People were on very bad place :(
2 children and 1 man. :(
Pilot was hurt and is in hospital.
I just returned from a very very sad rally, still not far from bursting into tears :(
The morning action started very promising with thrilling battles to come...just seen really nice morning gravel/tarmac drivethroughs of the topcars and then, some 500m later, it happened.
The organisers are denying their guilt, they say that the safety car checked all the at the forbidden places standing spectators before the beginning of the stage. According to Czech medias some witnesses say that the deceased spectators came to the tragic outside corner not long before the accident......while tens of spectators watching the action and the accident from the safe opposite bank........
21 years old Slovakian driver Lapdavský suffered a serious injury and had a nervous break-down in the hospital.
My deepest condolences to all involved.....
Tragic events , people please stay in safe zones
Yes, it is a pity. That people came to the place few minutes before Lapdavsky's arrival, they were noticed by other people (and some czech drivers, who were spectating), that they are standing on the bad place, but they were arrogant. And result you know. Stupid accident, but very serious mistake by the people, which were killed.
People were killed, but I must say that their idea to stand there was extremely stupid...
Was there any safety man?
I havent been on that place, I dont know if exactly on this place was marshall or not.
I just watched a video interview with a witness who said that people did not respect warnings of route marshalls.....Quote:

In the ideal world..yes..stage should be stopped till specators leave the forbidden area.Quote:

Or should we put rally into circuits?
Tricky questions,even trickier answers....
Here is a video from yesterday´s SS2 and from today´s SS7:

Tragic... :(
I Belgium (certainly in Flanders) they would cancel the stage, everybody would be nagging about it, but this should be a lesson for everyone!
I definitely agree....from time to time a lesson (I mean stopping the stage) should be learned. On the other hand, not everyone follows rally regularly,so not everyone gets the info about a lesson to be learned.Quote:

But I´m not saying that there ´s no space for safety improvements, there always is.
Just returned, fortunately my field of view ended few meters before that jump...

Well, maybe it's time to answer Your previous questions outside the tragedy...
Škoda's had completely wrong tyres for SS2 and 3 - slicks without cuts in heavy rain on SS2. Kopecký had also problem with extra lights on SS6 (probably with water in them), he was driving with only 2 from 6 extra lights. Kresta had also wrong tyres, but still a bit better (slick with few cuts).
Šlehofer retired because of electronics (maybe water in it).
Pech had a scary off on SS6 when he hit a wooden stockpile but without damage. He just lost time.
Novikov was simply incredible. Very hard pushing with very wide driving. On SS7 he had problems with brakes and also had to reverse.
Odložilík and Jelínek had broken driveshaft. Valoušek had troubles with gearbox from SS2 to SS6 (loosing gears). Peták troubles with brake pads on first loop (blocking rear wheels). Černý had wrong tyres and said he was completely out of rhytm after that. Štajf said he didn't feel confiddent with new car in such hard conditions. Tarabus had two punctures (drove ex-Solowow's 08 Punto). Jakeš was twice off road. Hanák had a big crash just in front of my friends (no injury fortunately). Sýkora went off and damaged steering.
And Polish Lukasz Habaj was much faster than I expected even though I expect him to be fast...
RIP to the deceased
But when will people learn not to stand in stupid places
In the UK There is a spectator safety control car goes through the stage before it goes live and then if they are in a stupid place they are told to move or the stage will be stopped.
If there are not enough marshals for the stage and people stand in a dangerous place then its their funeral
The people were not there before start when safety control was going through. I was told that they were several times told to go away from the place by both marshals and rally drivers who were there. The worst thing is that the man took two children with him :(
It's true that cancelling stage because of spectators is not common here but probably should be because the people are often arrogant or drunk and is not possible to move them away without police...
Conditions on Friday were extremely hard: First cars on the SS 2 had bits of dying daylight but the rest of the Friday´s stages were completely in a pitch dark night. More to that from SS2 there was heavy rain always changing into drizzle and then into heavy rain again. In the late night fog appeared.
On the contrary, Saturday morning was sunny.
I also saw Hanák´s roll-over, which only proved that in such conditions accidents could happen anytime anywhere. So my respect to all the drivers who dared to take part in this tricky race!
I agree with Mirek, the biggest surprise for me was Novikov: always the latest N4 on brakes, his times were really impressive. That guy has a future, I think!
They will soon complain when rallies start getting banned in Czech then they will realise but it will be too late as it will spoil it for the true rally fans that have knowledge where to stand in a safe place.
Maybe the organising clubs should be stopped from running events or if there is not enough marshals for one stage then cut the stages down so cover is there
Just a thought
I told you he is fast. I see you don't read my e-mails with enough attention ;)Quote:
