Cancelled stage is good for Tänak I guess, one stage less to carry problem or to have fatal outcome from it.
I enjoyed the day and that for once most cars are still in the running which hasn't been the case in the past rallies, of course it would be nice to see Toyota in the fight, but it seems they've found some of the speed they were lacking this morning so hopefully tomorrow they'll be able to fight back. A great shame we're being deprived from SS8, and tbh if we do get to see this rally again in the WRC it will be nice to see proper night stages here, apart from the stage that was supposed to run now. Hopefully all the top crews can keep it clean and on the road tomorrow so at least we'll might get to see some fights.
finally people can be where they want, not in certain ,,lamb areas''..
right?!
"Stage cancelled because of spectators" is not the best label for new rally if it wants to be part of WRC in the future as well.
Just curious, have there been cancelled stage because of spectators in Rally Finland?
In Finland 90% of the stage length isn't supereasily accesible (and easily means that every half kilometer there is an asphalt access road and maximum few hundred meters of a field to cross. The stages don't run through densily populated country. Ypres has had huge number of spectators even without WRC but the fact they are all around the stages makes their number looking smaller than it is. It's very difficult to handle when people do play hide and seek in the corn etc. (and they do have years of practise in doing so). I can imagine that the stage being run in the evening and the event being finally something to celebrate in the times of covid lockdowns means that plenty of people around the last stage were also drunk... and also the stage being short gave the organizer a chance to use it as a warning.
