Exactly this, I'm sure if Pontus could have chosen an event to do before Sweden to get used to the car, it wouldn't have been Monte, but the calendar gave him no choice. If he does what Evans did, he (Sponsors) are paying for it and he might never get to Sweden...honestly he has no real choice but to just use the time to get to know the car, trying to set good times will be at the absolute bottom of his list.
Also, as the event has been so bad for Ford, they may well all end up with good road positions in Sweden if the conditions are right.

Didn't expect anything from Pontus and actually thought he would choose safe driving for this event. For me it seems as smart choice and he has upped his tempo a bit.

WRC2 & WRC2pro are the same car spec correct?

For tomorrow, without any ice Ogier will easily keep lead. Loeb drop down behind Tanak or maybe even Latvala.

Scott called out "sharp keep in" and it looked to me that Elfyn was too fast and didn't turn in enough. Maybe the keep in part got lost on the way.

Ok pure speed, Tanak is faster, he is behind Loeb because of bad luck, but you can count on Loeb to keep him behind.

Also, in my opinion we see a Neuville in "happy" mode this weekend. Perhaps this is more because of the Nandan out, Adamo in effect.
Mikkelsen is his friend, knowing Loeb is there to "help",.. all Hyundai drivers seem to get along pretty good. Mindset is very important!

Maybe he’s also happy (mostly relieved) for Loeb not being able to fight for the win on this rally. With a proper rest and more testing days in the i20, hopefully Loeb will be faster in Sweden; then we’ll see how good Loeb is as a wingman...

Yeah I think he will be relieved Loeb hasn't come in and blown him away with a car that they have been complaining about on tarmac, but to be fair Neuville has been very good on this rally...just the small mistake which may ultimately cost him the win, but other wise very good.

Those who remember Monte history better: have this year's Sunday stages been driven ever in the earlier history of the rally in this form? I mean, rally-maps has everything after 2005: https://www.rally-maps.com/Rallye-Mo...e%C3%AFra-Cava . But looking at stage titles of past editions, it seems Turini was always driven from Sospel/Mouliet to La Bollene-Vesubie with the classic right-left on the Turini, meaning they only drove the beginning part of this year's stage into the opposite direction. The only exception seems 1998 when they did this year's route but in reverse.

And then the power stage of this year seems an even newer addition, with no matching stages in the history before 2005. It seems they've often done a stage from Lantosque or Loda to Luceram, which is near, but not sharing any route.

AFAIK it's a technical limitation. The cars have wireless transmitters with receivers in an aeroplane flying over the stage. The plane has only a certain range where it can receive a signal, and it usually doesn't cover the whole stage. Thus they can only receive signals from a certain area in the stage. But I don't know how and what they did in 2011.

If the above is correct (and like I said, I’m not 100% sure) then is it possible getting used to new co driver and getting the delivery of the notes more to his liking?

Iirc Evans' pacenotes aren't reflective of the gear he should be in. A 1/2 left is a flat left basically, so a 3 is probably borderline whether 6th/5th gear. I may be wrong though.

Tanaks moment is from exactly same corner as Evans and aso looks very much the same, just a few tens of cms difference on the outcome. (from onboard). Note that Tanak was there before Evans.
