A good insight, thank you. Same as you I was also surprised that this piece of kit was carried in the car. I suppose it depends on how rough the stages are as to what spares they think they`ll need.

Recent rallies showed that Ford's steering arms are very weak. It is clever to take a spare in the trunk when it weights less than a bottle of water and you are eager to make your hands dirty instead of waiting for the tow truck with crossed hands.
