What I will say is that for the past years, factory (nominated) seats have been regularly occupied by Jouhki drivers for cash reasons only and not based on prior results. Example : Hirvonen at Subaru in 2004. These seats became untouchable for other young drivers, even for a JWRC champion for example who busts his balls for years going up the ladder with small budgets.
After thee team bosses got used to the pay-to-drive attitude it was over for the other young guys who don't have access to 2.5mil for a season.
The ease with which Jouhki can place not only one but multiple drivers in factory seats with cash when necessary is disconcerting and has highly contributed this "pay-to-drive for a factory phenomenon" we have seen lately. It used to be that a factory seat was for the best guy of the moment, whoever it might be, not anymore.
