Breen jump that caused retire

He should watch his sharp tongue. If he wants a rule change he'd be better off sweettalking. If he simply ignores the rules he will get booked. And stop the threats already. 'I will retire from the WRC'. 'I will simply break the rules'. I like the guy but he is making an utter clown of himself.
It fuels my feeling that he's not feeling too happy, and that he's starting to get frustrated what with his not winning the title thing. If he doesn't win a title by 2019 I feel he might call it quits. I hope not! He's been doing so well so far :)

Seems that he hopes to be back for Finland, sideways jumping looks quite spectacular already ;)
A few of my shots, enjoy!

Brief review. All in all a great event, even while I missed the sunday stages. Started with the shakedown, where it seemed clear there would be a lot of dust (I think it was more than usual) during the event. We were in the last part before the finish, including the corner where Prokop went off. Very tricky downhill in braking for the slow right corner, we knew there was a huge risk of someone going off there, and more than one did... The stage on thursday night was great too, great overview as you could see all of the track, probably one of the best of this type of show-stages. Karlstad, Mikolajki, Killeri etc are far less entertaining. On friday and saturday we managed to see 4 stages each time, but only just, very tight schedule with long distances on friday. Good variation of places, going from medium corners to fast and extremely fast. From flat gravel to a very rough descent. It's amazing what these cars and drivers can take. Only the R5(WRC2) disappointed a bit, not so much drivers who were really fast. Kopecky and Camilli were quick and pretty much flawless, Veiby seemed very enthousiast and was spectacular to see. JWRC was nice to see, some surprising actions, it's clear these cars aren't made for such brutal events. For the rest not so much to say, all WRC cars seem to be very close, only the Citroën looks very different in behaviour, but for me it's impossible to say. Mikkelsen was clearly taking it easy, and the other 2 were out quite early on...

My Flickr album is now up but some editing of exposure and cropping required so as soon as the on line edit is available the finished pics will improve. Also my 35mm shots will be added sometime in the next 2 weeks.
I hope they are of interest and encourage people to go to this wonderful event.
Nice pics and movie's, thanks.
For me this stays one of the best events to visit in the wrc, amazing scenery, great island, lots of overview points,..
We did 3 stage's on Friday, 3 Saturday, and 2 on Sunday (we were able to go to a beach each day in between the stage's) so 4 stage's a day is possible.
Just a shame they did not have a big screen at the podium like some years ago, showing the sss on thursday.
Went to the finish on the last saturday stage, what a view, able to see i think 40% of the stage from that point, very cool.
Also the power stage is great, first loop, than having a swim in the mediteranian while r3 cars are still passing, snorkling in between. Than back to power stage and the finish, seems a bit like rally heaven to me.
What i also noticed on this edition, the stewards where much more in controll, firm but correct i think!
Ans drivers are still great, easy to speak to, take a selfie whit, dont think there are many other sports where you can speak to a 4 time world champion in between race's.
I shure hope Sardenga is in the calender for 2018, ill be back than. (i dont get why some people always want to replace this event whit San remo, or just bin it).
Keep those pics coming..
My view (as a Belgian) on Neuville beeing not friendly.
Just imagine yourself in that position, knowing this year might be your best chanse ever to be a WDC.
Your doing great on an event you still very wel can win and your main oponent is back in the order. But than, on the one stage you where planning to make your move the brake's dont work!
I'd be pissed of to, lost chanse. To me it's part of a sportsman's job, i actually like such reaction somethimes.
Just look at Latvalla, wouldn't hurt anybody, but also very angry after a setback.
Shame for Meeke, i also like the guy, these accidents must be hard to cope whit.
These drivers are just under a lot of pressure, stil performing like they do is just crazy. To me they are artists in a car.
Did anyone see a dead snake on the road to Oschiri, i think i accidentely killed one whil crossing the road..

This one is quite interesting this time https://youtu.be/SIprw5JPaSw
Clever car placement and making decisions like these in the tecce is vital to be quick and save on fast passages. Tanak is very good at this hence fast rallies are one of his big strengths. But he obviously can be quick in more technical events too, as seen in Sardinia.

Brakes don't spontaneously stop working however, I would say it's 99.99% of the time something the driver has done/not done that has caused them to fail. And therefore I feel Neuville's reaction is juvenile, a driver of more maturity would react with frustration but also be an adult about the situation.

This Pic was taken with my Pentax K1000 with Lumo iso800 film
Why such a crazy amount of grain on some of the pics? Underexposed?
Nope - some of the grain is due to iso800 film, some due to the neg scanning resolution and some to deliberate selective highlighting by post-ed 'sharpening'. I quite like the grainiest Tanak shot. People are too used to seeing DSLR so grain comes as a shock. I'm a product of the 60s / 70s in terms of my motorsport experience so I like the retro style of photography that was in vogue then.
Not a single pic on 2 rolls was underexposed, a Pentax and Sardinian light is a very good combination.
Love it
