Although there is more than a month untill the next event in the Latvian RC, mechanics are quite busy to prepare a new car (Mitsubishi Evo 9). LMT Rally Team was so kind to let me in their garage. Here's the result: http://www.rallyemotions.net/evo9/ The project is ongoing and hopefully there will be updates to the gallery on a weekly basis. Enjoy! :)
Does anybody know why Erik Wevers was in an old Corolla at the weekend on the LG Almere instead of his new Focus? I'm sure I saw a picture of the Focus on the event. Did it only get as far as Shakedown?
It was a great move by him. He didn't want to damage the Focus on this really bad roads (mixed surface stages). So he sent technicans home to get the Corolla over night to the event.Quote:

They need both cars in perfect condition for the next ERC round on April 18th/19th
And why did Dennis Kuipers retire in the 207 S2000 after 4 stages ???
Thanks for clearing that up for me.Quote:

Yes, D. Kuipers had an oil leak so they decided to stop to prevent engine failure

Rally Trajanovi vrata was won by Dimitar Illiev in his home-made Evo IX.He won all 6 stages and again proved who is the boss in Bulgarian rallying.
Jasen Popov finished second in his Evo IX,also home-made.He was the only one who could follow Illievs pace, but he had a puncture on the last stage.
Third was Rumen Dunev in his Clio S1600.
Donchev retired on the first stage.

This weekend is also the LRT Rally in Komen, with Freddy Loix in a Peugeot 106 Kit Car (suprising news!) and Bernd Casier with his Volkswagen Polo Super 2000.

Yes he is doing a favour to the organisers, who helped him out in the past concerning testtracks. They used to take care to close some public roads, so that Loix could do testruns on them. You have to know that in Belgium that is not so obvious, because you have to warn local government, police, fireguard etc... :( They asked him in the past allready if he could do their rally (Komen) as a driver and Loix promised he would do so if they got him a car. As he is only allowed to drive Peugeot, this was the car that came up. It is not a bad car, but nothing special, so it is just for fun. His codriver will be Kurt Declerq, who was sitting with Loix allready a few years ago in Ypres, when he was driving the C2 S1600. :p :Quote:

It will be interesting to see what can Loix do in a 106 Maxi.
If the car is well maintained and serviced I think Loix could be very fast!!!

Here is a video from shakedown. Werner's crash is at ca 3rd minute, nothing realy serious but quite spectacular ;)
I don't think that for a good driver night is limitating that much to be slower than a lower class. For example last week on rally Sumava they were doing totaly same times on the stages in day or night. On two stages Kresta was even faster in the dark than in the daylight.Quote:
