So my guess would be Madagascar as previuously stated, and I'll add Indonesia (the original Spice Islands) and Costa Rica!

The reason I said Madagascar is that the last time I bought some vanilla seeds, it was a product of there. It is also grown on Vanuatu but I wouldn't think in very large quantities.

Well this doesn't seem to have generated much interest so I'll change it slightly.

If I have been travelling in an easterly direction along a road that ends at a statue called the "Mask of Sorrow", what is the name of that road?

Isn't the Mask of Sorrow another name for depression?

As to the question, I remember it is in Russia and was something to do with the death camps that Stalin setup in the 30's.

Just the name of the road will be ok, yes it is in Russia and has to do with it having being built by Gulag inmates.

My mother-in-law grew up in Magadan and my brother-in-law was born there, but I don't know the name of the road.
