generally no... Greece doesn't have poisonous snakes apart from adders... which look like that...spiders and scorpions are not poisonous to an extend that should be considered a threat if you are not allergic.

all these years i have never encountered any kind of lethal life form other than the common endogenous species of humans.

I met this big one (ca. 1,4m) once on a stage, sadly it was hit by a car before. No idea if dangerous or not.

Looks like I´ll have to stay away from humans :) and beware of adders (hopefully they behave like in sweden, but still they can be a threat).
But N.O.T. what that about vipers.... huuuuuh? :eek:

this is the most common snake in greece...not poisonous and actually pretty good for the farm ecosystem to keep the rodent population in control.

viprs and adders are the same thing just different name...you do not have to worry...they are not very common.

If you see where you are walking you don't have to scare.Snake will bite you only if you don't see it and walk on it.just look where you are walking.Αbout poisonous spiders etc you will not find that kind of species in Greece(we are not a jungle :D ).BUT BE AWARE OF THE GREEK DRIVERS(this is the real danger and i'm not kidding)

Thanks all of you giving me useful answers!

I´m not afraid of driving anywhere, but have deep respect for what you´re saying. I´ve been driving right handed family bus in Edinburgh city for an example, but in Greece we will drive from airport in Athens to Loutraki with a rental (small) car and I´ll be on my watch and careful, I promise.

Last year we went to the showstart in Athens and drove at the rush hour trough Athens, probably the craziest traffic I've ever driven in :D Scooters everywhere!
Otherwise, didn't see much crazy things, liked the fact that everybody drives on the emergencylane, so that the 2 lane roads, become 4 lane roads! :)
