Is it the Area of the Atlantic where the Space Shuttle Challenger crashed?
I may be mistaken (probably) but I think it is also know as the Marianas Trench, a deep ocean trench (deepest in fact) in the South Pacific.
I think its the same as what Breeze said...its the deep ocean trench off the coast of Philippines?
I thought it was just off Japan - but I agree with it being the Mariana Trench.
I can even tell you it is 7 miles deep, but I wont because no-one likes a know-it-all!
I thought it was off the coast of Java?
If correct, here...........and that would be in the Northern Pacific Ocean
Ok Breeze, you have got half the answer. You have the where, as it is in the Mariana Trench. But what is it, ie what is so special about Challenger Deep? You are also very close to what it is.
Well??Quote:

I agree that the Mariana Trench is the deepest oceanic trench in the oceans of the world.
This is like saying the Himalayas are the tallest mountain, not Mt Everest.
:( :blackeye: :bigcry:
Time for another question?
Yeh!
Breeze was basically right so have a go with a question!
I'm up for that. Its been a busy couple of days, but I hope to have a call in to Edgar the 'globe trotting bon vivant' Crow for a good story.
Sorry friends, no story from Edgar. Just a bunch of numbers. He said you guys would know what to make of them. ;)
47 56 59.49
00 04 27.08
29 11 15.53
-81 04 22.13
43 44 03.75
07 25 16.89
39 47 35.31
-86 14 19.90
Is that Edgar's credit cards numbers? :p
Well, I guess those look like lat/lon pairs. no lons beyond +/- 90 though, which is curious.
Shall we enter these numbers into Google Earth to find a common theme? (ie is that allowed here?)
Well, looking at a map, those points correspond to:
LeMans
Daytona
Monaco
Indianapolis
I suspect that's what you are looking for.
(Edgar needs to get out more :)
So therefore they are all Racing Tracks!
Well that was just TOO easy for a savant like edv! :p : What's more, its on the start/finish line of those famous tracks!Quote:

There are many projects ongoing to recover and restore this highway, especially as it holds such great nostalgia for retiring babyboomers, but mainly for its historical and cultural significance.
Anyway, the question is this:
Regarding Route 66:
1) In what city does it start (easternmost point)?
2) At what famous landmark does it end (westernmost point)?
3) How many states does it pass through? (Name them if you can!)
Educamated guess here...
Start: chicago
Landmark End: Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles?
States: Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Nevada, California???
Well, Schmenke, you got 3 out of a possible 11...
Start is indeed Chicago.
Landmark at the end is not rodeo Drive.
You got 2 states right. (Illinois & California)
Number of states is wrong.
...well it winds from Chicago to L.A.
more than 2000 miles all the way.
Get your kicks, on Route 66...
Well going by the cities mentioned in the song, I'd agree with Schmenke on the start & end. But I think it swings south around Colorado. So take out Colorado from Schmenke's list of states and add Missouri, New Mexico & Arizona
:sQuote:

the landmark at the end and a selection of states still available.... (geez I sound like a marketer..)
So we still need 5 states?
Well then Texas and Oklahoma must be in there.
And how about Arkansas, Kentuky & Tennessee to make it 11.
Wild guess at Landmark ---> Vennis Beach
Not necessarily 5 states needed (read question3 carefully)
Yes on Texas and Oklahoma. No on the others.
The landmark at LA is not venice beach, but you're warm. I have a suspicion that it's the same landmark where the Cannonball Run ended.
schmenke got 3
1stgear now has 5
Man - I'm so useless I can't even read the question right.Quote:

We got married in Bullhead City in Arizona on Route 66. By the banks of the Colorado River, having spent the previous night in Kingman, which has no redeeming features :) . Stayed in Laughlin that night then had lunch in Newberry Springs the next day at the Side Winder Cafe aka Bagdad Cafe in the film of the same name. http://www.lppublishing.com/bagdadcafe/Quote:

schmenke 3
Firstgear 5
camelopard 1
So you've gotten Chicago and Santa Monica.
And it goes through Illinois, Missouri, something something something New Mexico, Arizona and California.
Ok - one last try.
Replace something something something with Kansas Oklahoma Texas.
Then it starts in Chicago, ends at Santa Monica Pier and runs thru eight states.
Do I get a gold star or a Strike Three - Yer Out?
Gold Star!
Your Go
Yipppeeeeee!
OK, this is probably too easy for the Canucks, but here goes anyway.
2010 Olympics is being hosted by Vancouver/Whistler. If you went to Whistler, what mountain besides Whistler Mountain would you most likely ski on?
I'll abstain from responding... :)
Me too.
I'd go down Whistler Mountain, but I'd rather my girl go down Hummer Mountain.
Badump bump.
I'm starting to think that my question is going to sink this thread. So please allow me to retract it, and replace it with this:
Making over 90% of the worlds supply, what were the top three vanilla producing countries (according to the UN food & Agriculture Organization) in 2006?
Well I was going to guess and say Blackcomb,.Quote:
