today at 100km stages Oliver got back almost 40 sec from Asunmaa.
Seems that at next stage 32 km long he will be very near of him, only some couple of seconds.

Fastest R5 again on SS9, despite losing time with an intercom issue! Today has gone really well so far - hope we can finish on a high with the final SS10

Man Solberg again continues to amaze me.
This kid has a huge future.
Will Oliver manage to take 2nd place and best Rally2 car on the last stage?
yes/no
yes...
It´s about tenths of a second, but I think he made it.
Edit: 0,9 secs in favour of Asunmaa. However a slower time showed up very shortly... something like 15:11,4 on GPS splits. However still win for Asunmaa...
He he, 0,9 sec behind Asunmaa.
still a good test, getting to know the car setup.
will be good experience to have inhouse when starting in Monte.
However Oliver took back some 38+ secs today, given he must have done some major change. Tyres I guess...
So today was showing the speed in between them if going on same tyres...
Αmazing pace from Oliver! We know that Asunmaa,Lindholm,Salo are very fast at their home rallies, and today he was clearly destroying them.
No, it's on this tweet: https://twitter.com/oliversolberg01/...014709250?s=21
after seeing many pictures from this rally - seems like everyone were on 15 inch wide tyre. but they not all the same, michelin had two types: wrc and for r5, pireli with new tyre - need to wait for real inside info who was using what...
There is clearly marking WJ1, which is the new Pirelli tyre for national use.

Here is list of allowed winter tyres in Finnish Championship (Class6 WRC + Oliver did not drive with these rules)

So what did he use? I guess WJ1 on Saturday and WRC tyre on Friday...
Friday was clean roads with little or no loose snow, Saturday first stage also clean roads, the rest much more loose snow. WJ with 9mm protrusion was a clear advantage there, easiest is to compare against Hänninen who was on same 7mm WRC tires all even and you can see that all others were closer especially on SS8 with alot of loose snow, than again long 9mm protrusion can actually be a disadvantage on clean ice roads as the stud starts to sway a lot faster when the rubber warms up.
But I wasn`t there so can`t verify what tires who was on at what point, so this is pure specualtion
If so Oliver would´ve lost more time Saturday after 1st service, wouldn´t he? Snowy stage starting early. Same conditions as Teemu of course, but to the rest of the field of fast drivers in RC2 cars.
However I could also reccon Oliver and his team is as smart as we do think. He did test his feeling on Friday. Very important to get the right set up and gain experience. He is a fast learner and a smart team, so Saturday they could step up and go as fast as they could, better knowing car and set ups. And it finally showed where Olivers status is. Winning Saturday by some 35-40 secs.
Asunmaa said that he lost totally around 30s on Saturdays 2 stages because Veiby had problems...
Of course this isn´t fully true and maybe Oliver also had some "dust" problems.
Because it was Oliver´s 1st rally with Hyundai, I believe that he was not attacking 100%, especially on Friday.

What I meant is Oliver took full advantage of the 9mm studs in the snowy conditions, it looks as like the new WJ tire suits full snow alot better than clean roads as seen from the results the drivers who got the new tire suddenly were alot faster on the last 2-3 stages.
However it does not explain the time loss for Friday.
And just to be clear I am in no way saying Oliver had a bad rally, especially Saturday he showed the difference between a full time rally driver and a national rally driver..
Any result link to the Historic rally Jari Maiti Latvala and his father is driving today?
So F-Cup in Hankasalmi on Saturday. Any links?

Wow! Over 150 entries in such a small country! And a proper snow rally! And a world premiere of Ford Fiesta Rally3!
It's going to be a great rally day in Finland on Saturday. It's been a while since I saw a proper snow rally for the last time!
Are there any live results going to be available?

Are most of them upgraded to a sort of Group A tuning?
Is the start at 1000 or 1100 local today?

What happened with Salo, Asunmaa and Lindholm on SS5? They all dropped a minute on that stage.
