I have not read anything on that this is ment for younguns only.
On the IRC site it says: Talented Local Drivers.
It is still possible to be talented at 50+, is it not ?
If the young-gun issue is important , it need to be more clearly stated, but for me the concept is super; each host nation for the events decides who they want - the rest of the world can disagree - but does it help ? The decision is made !
Sure Sulland, Miguel Campos answers perfectly to that criteria ;)
I think BFG answer these questions here: http://www.rallye-info.com/article.asp?sid=0&stid=6949Quote:

I thought the Grande Punto was to be named Abarth GP S2000, but now I have seen a lot of Fiat GP Abarth S2000.
I thought some of the plan was to revive the old Abarth name, in rally and not the Fiat factory name.
Last year as far as I remember the small badge they are using or sites with results was Abarth's but this year it is Fiat's.
Is there a plan here, or is this just circumstances...
On the IRC site Abarth is still the badge in use as a manufacurer.
Not a big issue, but is it anyone here that know something on this ?
The Fiat badges that you see on some cars are because they are 2006 spec.Newer cars and works cars have Abarth badges
IRC uses Abarth Grande Punto S2000, but it is only internal naming for their championship. Homologation is for Fiat Grande Punto S2000 and this is only one right name for that car :)
I think there the story is a little confused ...
Abarth is something more than an IRC internal naming, is an official trademark and if you look on the rollcage of a Punto s2000 you can see a little plate with: "Abarth - number of the car - month year of production".
For sure homologation is referred to Fiat, but Abarth team asked many times to call the car "Grande Punto Abarth S2000" (maybe you can add Fiat before :-) )
Maybe one day Fiat and Abarth will explain in a clear way these little things.
Three S2000s on next week's Sezoens Rally(Belgium) two Polos(Casier and Auquier)and one 207(Kuipers Jr, the event is counting as Euro rally Challenge :D
Incredible fight of S2000s at the Rally Valle Piacentine(Italy)the past week-end, with the victory of Franco Leoni(Grande Punto)with a gap of only 0.9s over Mauro Tiramani(207)
Any news on the Proton, that a while back was said to be 80% there ?
Not much to see on the MEM homepage.
But now things are starting to happen http://www.memuk.com/ !
It is not three, but five drivers that will be picked out of the 55 entries for the drive in BF Goodrich Pug for Ypres Rally in Belgium. Out of these five drivers, who will be selected by BF Goodrich, a team of journalist will pick the winner on 28th of may. :)
According to portuguese site Ralis.Online.Pt spanish driver Enrique Garcia Ojeda is trying to find budget to run the next portuguese championship round, Rali Sata Açores in a private 207 S2000 !!!
I simply can't wait for an eventual huge duel between Magalhaes and Ojeda :bounce: :bounce:
dont believe until you see him at açores...Quote:

There are some more MG's under build
One of them is for a driver who should be doing a few rounds of the BRC later in the year
New swiss rally for Grégoire Hotz in the 207 S2000 next week-end(Rallye du Chablais) :)
At the start his program was first round of swiss championship and Rallye du Valais(IRC), but after it seems he's so happy with this new car that he wants to increase his outings with it :p :
Same cars just different badging - I've seen Evo3 and Evo5 in UK run as Protons in the past but now both running as Mitsus....Quote:

According to latest article on Ralis Online it looks Enrique Garcia Ojeda was present among other spanish drivers at the presentation of Rali Açores and confirmed he'd drive a 2008 spec. 207 S2000
See Scotsman Barry Johnson has a MG S2000 on order according to Mark Lowe's site
http://mg-s2000sport.mysite.orange.co.uk/page1.html
Meant to say Englishman Barry Johnson as he is from County Durham.
Are they writing Alexander Nowikov will run this week-end in the 2nd 207 S2000 of Power Car team/Munaretto ???

“I’m hoping the Fiesta will bridge the gap to the Toyotas and give us that extra edge over the rest of the field,” said Windus. “My aim is to be on the podium every round for the remainder of the season, and I believe the Fiesta is the car that can help me achieve that.” '
That really is awesome news!Quote:

info is correct, the car is ready, he was missing Budget to drive the event with a Polo S2000... maybe later this year... ;)Quote:

I repeat my question I asked in the Ypres rally thread(maybe not the right place it was): does someone know who is the new owner of Kuipers Jr's 207 S2000
are there any Pictures / Video of the Skoda S2000 tets in Austria from the last few days ? they are testing ialso today n the Bosch Rally area with Baumslager / Kopecki and Sainz ?........
I don't have any links for you, but where did you hear the news? Great if Sainz has decided to help out.Quote:
