Most likely two entry cancellations coming after Saturday's FRC event in Kouvola and hard crashes which happened. Annala had a bad roll after a jump (car landed copletely on the nose and started to roll rear-front-rear-front...) and car is destroyed. Kaisanlahti had a really nasty off, went off and hit a tree stump, 100+ kph to 0 in less than a second, engine came into cabin etc. Both taken to hospital. I'll write a bit more tomorrow to the FRC thread when I have time.
O.K. AUTO SM RALLI Kouvola 2012 - YouTube -- From this clip you can see Annala´s heavy roll after jump...
OK Ralli 14.07.2012 EK 4 - YouTube -- Here is Kaisanlahti.. Very heavy impact :(
Meh..really bad impact.
They both look bad but the latter one is terrible :(Quote:

Also, right now my plan is to drive to our hotel in Laukaa then possibly drive back for SS3 at night.
On Friday we are looking at catching SS4 and then SS6. We also though about sticking around for SS8 but that would require us driving back by our hotel in Laukaa. Any thoughts or advice? We need to be back to Helsinki later afternoon on Friday and I am not sure how it is at rally's like this driving between stages and parking? Is it mostly all well groomed dirt roads between stages - I know that seems horrible to ask since I am attending a rally (lol) but I will driving my brand new Volvo and I can't return it back to the factory for shipment to the US with any "damage":-)
Just to make sure I understood. You arrive thursday 2nd to Helsinki, plan to drive to your hotel at Laukaa, then drive back south to catch stage 3 Mynnilä?( it's going to be late when you finally get to sleep) Then, on friday morning head to stages 4 and 6, possibly drive north to SS8 which starts at 1.32 pm and then try to get back to Helsinki at late afternoon?? It's not going to happen. First of all, there are basicly two different routes to Helsinki, at both sides of lake Päijänne. If you are on a tight schedule, I'd strongly recommend you forget SS8 and choose your way back after SS6. The reason is that there are a PLENTY of others also on the roads. That weekend police will be monitoring speedlimits so from SS6 I would say it'll take about 2,5hrs at least to Helsinki.Quote:

The dirt roads are in good shape, not too many bumps so from that point you don't have to worry about your brand new Volvo ;) Of course, if you're not able to stick in between the ditches..... :p BUT, I would like to point out again, those stages are very popular and there are plenty of people with cars in that area so there will be waiting in lines etc.
Every year folks explode their heads because they get frustrated when they realize they are not going to make to stages in time ... because they make too tight schedules. Some members here probably still remember my awesome shortcut through the small roads. :D
My advice is that don't make too big of a bite. And remember that if the routes and timetables on rally guide look possible, it is just theory. You need time on stages as well in order to look a perfect spot for your rally experience :)
