The Sens really didn't stand a chance... :(
Announced today, they sucked Sundin for extending his contract another year. So far, they keep wanting to bring back the same guys who didn't get them into the playoffs last year. Leaf's management still thinks if they made the playoffs they would have been able to compete, and what they don't seem to get is that this team cant be life and death to make the playoffs all year and then turn it on and win. Edmonton 2 years ago got lucky but they had some stars in Pronger and a goalie that got hot. It is not a given that if you make the playoffs all the stiffs you have now all the sudden will get better. The Leafs will keep struggling until the people running the team above the hockey department decide mediocre wont work no more. I suspect THAT day will occur the day Jim Balsillie moves the Pred's into Southern Ontario. It will be nice for an NHL team to be based in Southern Ontario, right now we just have 3 AHL teams. Just the Leaf's haven't figured out they should be in the A....Quote:

Sundin was a good option.. he is one of the top players consistancy wise, Sundin also took a 800,000 dollar pay cut and only a one year deal which leaves the team to sign (hopefully!) a talented UFA for him to play along... The problem is not so much Mats but more the players he has been given to play with... most of them he has played along side were average , nothing to spectacular, mind you I did like Wellwood working along side him but tiem will tell...Quote:

Gone a bit quiet in here hasn't it.
ya not very much to talk about this week really... The Rangers and Ducks look very strong after the huge additions in the offseason which no doubt cost them a very pretty penny... hey BTCC2 are you going to one of the NHL games that will be held in London? I'm quite excited for the leafs season as it looks one of hte more promising ones in years.. with the offseason additions of Vesa Toskala, Jason Blake and Mark Bell as well as Clemmenson the leafs looks strong.. There is still a few things missing liek a PK specialist (check this off if they re-sign Peca) a defensive D man (but 2 way players like Blake and Bell as well as getting a huge upgrade goaltender wise we should be ok) and now we need a future Captain.. and /or a Centre.. the only play besides Sundin I would be willing ot give the C to would be Tomas Kaberle.. Bryan McCabe or Darcy Tucker wouldn't be the best of choices in my mind.. You need a player that sets a good example and none do that better then Kaberle and Sundin.. looking forward to a very exciting season!Quote:
