Okay think I'm nearly there with my first skin. Quick question:
Do I delete the old car files and then add the new cars files to the car files directory, or is there another way to go about it?
Thanks!

Just paste the new files in, confirm the overwriting. Make a separate backup copy of originals, if you haven't instal CD.
If I wish to overwrite a different car (say a Mitsu alt rather than the makinen liveried one) I can just rename the new files so they overwrite the ones I wish to replace, correct?Quote:

Thanks for answering my naive questions, NOR :up:Quote:

I copied the files (name modified by me for mtsubishi alternate 1) and moved them to the cars file for the game with nor result. Tried it a second time using the names for the Lancer and the game wouldn't run. I uninstalled and now am about to reinstall.Quote:

You needn't reinstall all the game next time, just copy the original CARS files into the folder.
For textures you should set graphics advanced option CAR DETAILS to high.
I'm doing the reinstall because the game wouldn't play, and for some reason the textures were ot showing up.Quote:

Using win zip for exactly what? If you want to pack/unpack *.bfl file you should use Bfl works or similar tool.
This page mentions using winzip to unpack.Quote:

This is the downloaded, unzipped skin file on which I renamed the files to convert the Mitsubishi Alternate one to the desired car ( a Lancer WRC 05).
Can you see any errors here?
I transferred the middle 6 files into the cars directory of my CMR2 game file. The mitsubishi alternate files can be seen close to the top
(see below)

OK I see what's the problem.
You have to fix it this way:
1. go to unpacked folder, rename the ma1a5.bfl to ma1c1.bfl
2. copy to clipboard file ma1a1N.c3d and paste it as copy into same folder
3. rename this copy to ma1c1.c3d
4. put all (now 7) files into Game/Cars folder (rewrite the originals)
5 .start the game, and set in Graphics advanced option the Car details high
Then you should find the new car under Mitsu alt1 and game should run properly.
Here a pack with 3d model cars...
If someone know how to convert this models cars for cmr2...
File type: .z3d
The pack have some cars:
-Subaru wrx n12
-Mitsubishi evo X
-...

Thanks for link. I have downloaded it and these two cars looks really nice. Will see what's possible, there are different hierarchy, scale and details level. But maybe could be transferred for CMR2 after some hours of work..... I can't promise, there is another new car on my workbench now.Quote:

I hope you can convert those cars.
NOR, how you know all this stuff is beyond me...it's great to have you here and helping us all out. Nice one ;)
It would be fantastic if we had those new cars, CMR2 would be the new WRC game :P
As I'm a bit slow (!) - are you saying that we might have those two beautiful cars above in the game soon!
Or did I get all excited for nothing...
Guys, if was saying some hours of work, I ment a lot of hours without warranted success. The original models are so detailed and CMR2 needs less polygons models to reliably run. And I have a full hands with developing brand new car (not released yet) now. So it really will not be soon, sorry....
But it could happen at some point?
And what is this 'new car' you are working on, or is it kept under wraps until finished?!
Could be, I prefer the EvoX little bit, but will see....
Yes the new car is kept under wraps, you can expect some hints later on :)
NOR-what did you see that tipped you off that soemthing was wrong? Curious if it was something I did or something in the unzipped file...Quote:

That's good to hear. Please try it on any SS11 as well, this is used to be a problem sometimes....Quote:

Hi NOR,
Could you look at these unziped file names to see if they look okay? I can provide sizes if necessary. They are for an 07 focus:
206.cin
206a1.bfl
206a1l.c3d
206a1n.c3d
206als.c3d
I have 2 other sets of files I may have you check if you don't mind.
Thanks!
James
Could anyone supply the correct file stems for the:
Toyota Corolla?
Ford Focus? (Not the alternate 1999)
The names seem to all run together when I llok at the file names.
Looking to drop in a Red Bull Fabia, and an 08 Focus!
Tannat
If this version of Focus is from colin sites 110mb.com, I can't recommend as good version. Very poor model and skin as well. Wait for my version, Two Basses Focus will be released in two weeks.

Did you put the files just from unzip folder into the game, or made some changes(renames) ? In the zipfile are missing *c1.bfl and *c1.c3d files.
Does anyone know where to find a good Octavia skin?
NOR the car works perfectly but after i use cmr2edit and photoshop as you see in the picture that happens... With others cars i can make my changes but with evo no. I need to know because i want to paint the EVO IX of Bernardo Sousa in pwrc sweden this year

My new machine:
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1223/cmr2dh9.jpg
I have just tried to paint on it. The same thing is doing with this Evo IX on my computer as well. I have no idea what's exactly wrong, but there are lot of strange files in the textures pack. Few has different name, few are from other versions, it's not all right. Maybe you should search for another base EvoIX for your modification.Quote:

All Lancers have the same performance. Like all Focuses have ....
Did someone here can open bfl files of tracks???
I try to one file with the cmr2edit but the program crash after a time.
But i get these files.
I use this site http://filext.com/ to know what program i need to have to open some file extension...

PS. sorry for my english
Why won't my super special stages run in Single Stage mode?
Any ideas?
I get the "Please insert CMR2 CD"
BTW - Only get that message with downloaded cars.
Some downloaded cars hasn't all files. If there are missing *c1.bfl or *c1.c3d - you have to add them this way : See posts No. 52 and 54 this thread.Quote:

Yes, you have. There must be *c1.c3d without "N"
