Sad, but still the only possible decision.
This year just keeps getting worse. FFS.
I suspect they will do something similar to F1 and have multiple events at 1 location if they need. Two, two day events should be possible in a single location.
Germany and Wales are a long way off yet. I don’t know what the deadline to decide for Wales is, maybe end of September? Also it might be possible for Wales move back a bit date wise if the situation looks better for late November or something similar.
I know NZ and Japan are long haul, but if the local situations regarding Covid restrictions allow the events to run, then why would they be off the table?
cancel the whole year then
unbelivable...
F1 can run without fans as they have the TV money - WRC doesn't have that; so spectator ticketing is most events biggest revenue raiser. What events can manage without fans and still run? I doubt there are many.
Everybody should just face it and admit, that the season is over and when the new one will start, is also a question. The time they plan to resume the season, will be the second wave (or hopefully just fear of it).
Wait and see if the ERC Rally di Roma happens. If it can then others can too.
WRC needs to get back into action asap or its profile will be gone and sponsors who have even tighter budgets next season will have moved on.
I have to say, the WRC hasn't handled the lockdown as well as other series. I did see a comment about 'hibernation'......
Of all the major global series, the WRC was the only one without an e-Sport WRC event/series featuring the top drivers. There may have been a reasonable reason why it didn't happen. Whether you like it or not, it's a way of giving sponsors/manufacturers some exposure in this time of no 'real life' motorsport.
The Solbergs fixed it instead. Worth admiration.
From what I heard from Tanak the top WRC drivers dont think doing e-sport sim rally is a worthwhile tool anyway
Not maybe a worthwhile tool for actual rallying, but entertainment for the time being. Imagine having a sim race with all the top drivers, I would for sure watch it. And maybe if everyone had a face camera at home so we could see their reactions and get interviews?
Have the very top F1 guys like Hamilton, Leclerc & Verstappen been sim racing for their fans during lockdown ?
Yea. Leclerc basically every week and sometimes even more often. Lando Norris too, Sainz. Havent seen Hamilton.
Verstappen too a lot yes.
The BRC has created four 30 min programmes of their competitors taking part in a eBRC. They also have a British title up for grabs and a test in a real Fiesta R2T for the winner from the public rounds. One of the programmes can be found here - https://youtu.be/ktH0rzWxaeQ
APRC has already run two virtual rounds. https://fiaaprc.com/2020/06/online-r...d-19-red-tape/
It seems that Leclerc is the only top driver taking part in the official F1 e-sports series...

RedBull driver Albon is not top driver ?
if you donīt count RedBull as top team then you canīt count MSport either... (RedBull did win several races last year, but MSport...)
McLaren drivers are taking points from every race but seems to be nothing...
With your rules How many Top Drivers we have in WRC ? 3? 4?
Leclerc
Norris
Sainz
Bottas
Albon
Russel
Perez
Hulkenberg
Latifi
Ocon
Solberg
rFactor Legends
Alonso
Montoya
Vettel
Button
Solberg
And many more
At the most with all the live streams it was something like 3-400.000 viewers on the Virtual F1 races in total.
What made the WRC8 thing not work is that it was pre recorded runs and made to be live, It's not a very good game either.
Shame so many voted for Kalle do his streams in Finish because it's a cool way to get to know people.
I almost feel more into F1 than WRC now because It's been so quite from WRC
