Pity no Kajto :(
Haha, his car looked superb last year, I'm all for a bit of variety and the sound is great (although basically the same as the Citroen, of course).
Would like to see the 208 not die out completely, but seems to be heading that way. Is the DS3 so much better?
But in this case, of course, Bouffier will start with DS3...
Lefebvre - I sent my entry form for Ypresrally but we still have to complement the budget to confirm our participation. I’ll keep you posted !
Except bodyshell and body panels, etc. only mechanical difference is propshaft, which is shorter in Citroen as it has shorter wheelbase. Rest is the same. Few months ago Peugeot Sport and Citroen Racing merged together, so support team is identical now, they also merged stock, so now there is only one shop for all parts.
Bouffier is again in the Czech DS3 he used last year, good to see him back with Panseri.
New co-driver for Lefebvre?
Yes, that's why Jakeš is missing in Rally Hustopeče entry list.
110 entries (and counting) so far, not everything is published yet.
Snijers with 208 T16 and Kristiansson with Fabia S2000 in
More Peugeots the better and I'll never get tired of hearing S2000 Skodas. Great!
Snijers => car isn't sure and still searching for budget. Very doubtful.
I have just counted the number of Peugeots 208 T16 at the finish line of each round of ERC 2016. It doesn't look good:
round 1 Canarias - 1 Pug at the finish line (Consani)
round 2 Ireland - 0 Pugs at the finish line
round 3 Acropolis - 0 Pugs at the finish line
round 4 Azores - 0 Pugs at the finish line
But You can't say he had no problems. AFAIK in the last event even with the Evo kit he had problems with the pop-off all the time. Anyway it's sad when You can name all reliably working Peugeots R5 in Europe out of Your head in just few seconds...
I saw that on Patrice Fabre facebook last Ronde del Giraglia:
To be fair, I will little bit update your statistics:
round 1 Canarias - 1 Pug at the finish line (Consani), 1 retired (Costenaro, usual problem with alternator)
round 2 Ireland - 0 Pugs at the finish line, 1 retired (Thorburn, technical problem with transmission)
round 3 Acropolis - 0 Pugs at the finish line, 1 retired (Della Casa, broken radiator after hitting stone)
round 4 Azores - 0 Pugs at the finish line, 1 retired (Costenaro, usual problem with alternator)
Most of that retired cars is still the same car from Delta Rally...
It is really interesting that we hear lot of complains against pop-off from Citroen and Peugeot drivers. But also lot of other teams and cars had problems with pop-offs. For example Orsak had problems with it on Azores for whole weekend. Lukyanuk had problems with pop-off in Acropolis...
Do we have some weather expectations?
I can say for sure that there is going to be some wind :D
I'm not so sure... If you check ewrc they don't seem to have much more problems than the Skoda and the Fiesta.
There is for instance one in sweden that usually runs reliably. Uccis has almost never had a problem etc etc.
I am pretty sure that the problematic ones are those that aren't upgraded to latest spec.
Princen's one was the very first Evo one and it hasn't run flawless so far. Also I heard they had plenty of problems also in testing. Let's see in Ypres.
I meant pre Evo, with the homologated joker parts.
Can't say much about the Evo as there are too few in existence. Time will tell.
Am I being mean? In the last 3 seasons Peugeot 208 R5 managed to win just 4 ERC rounds out ouf 25. And the last win was over 1 year ago when Craig Breen was fastest in the 2015 Azores Rally.
Let's take a quick look at the statistics - number of wins:
ERC 2016
-----------
Ford Fiesta R5 - 2 wins
Skoda Fabia R5 - 1 win
Citroen DS3 R5 - 1 win
Peugeot 208 R5 - 0 wins
ERC 2015
-----------
Ford Fiesta R5 - 4 wins
Peugeot 208 R5 - 3 wins
Skoda Fabia R5 - 2 wins
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X - 1 win
ERC 2014
-----------
Ford Fiesta RRC - 4 wins
Škoda Fabia S2000 - 4 wins
Ford Fiesta R5 - 1 win
Peugeot 208 R5 - 1 win
Mini John Cooper Works S2000 - 1 win
Don't get me wrong, I like Peugeot 208 T16, but numbers don't lie...
Well that escalated quickly:
So who, from the locals, do we think will be ERC registered to compete in qualifying and run at the front?
Maybe some of them:
