Looks like many improvements to the Dakar race car from the one we saw at Morocco. Lets wait and see. Toyota seems like the best prepared to take the fight to Mini - 2016

No surprises.
De Villiers car spec shows 310kw which is about 415 hp... Mini shows 320 hp ... Diesel torque gives it the edge but could these power output figures be real?
Albert Llovera will drive a third Tatra truck from Bonver team. Hopefully they can finally do the event without major issues for Artur Ardavicius who stays as the no.1 driver.
seems he bought the latest spec...Dkr15+

It's probably a 2015 version with some upgrades. The new car is longer (spare wheels side placed).

Either way, Dumas contribution to that children NGO it's great!
Yes it's the 2015 with some evos. It's what Loeb used in Morocco, and Peterhansel / Despres in Grand China Rally.
which channel broadcasts the dakar this year?
It's on their website... I know Eurosport does
More importantly, when's the first leg? I find no such info
Prologue on Saturday then 1st stage Sunday.
Where I can find the high resolution Dakar photos..?

Tomorrow's the first stage proper... will be interesting to see the if the budget money Peugot easily could have used to get back into WRC was well spent or not (I have some veeeery serious doubts).
Does anyone have the itinerary with start times for each stage ? I think we should have this thread appear in the WRC and ERC section of the forum as well at least for the duration of the event.
Rosario right now..

Long straight with jumps lined by spectators = accident. Hope injured are ok.
SS1 delayed.
Ss1 Cancelled for Motors and Quads. Not sure for cars/trucks yet.
Good start for Ten Brinke at least!
Looks like some early damage for Sainz too through a watersplash?
Stage 1 cancelled for everyone.
That itself isn't necessary a disadvantage. 2WD have a lot more free rules. They have much bigger suspension travel, a lot less weight, bigger wheels etc. Peugeot clearly decided for 2WD because they saw a potential there otherwise they would opt for 4WD.
Doesn't look very well when such thing happens already in the first water splash of the event.
If water does that what will a wave of sand do?
Maybe they opted for 2wd simply because their feared direct class confrontation with X Raid...seeing their crap '15 proto and the need for an almost new car in '16 it makes more sense...
Without Chile's desert stages and with such bad weather they could end in another disaster campaign. Let's hope not, Peugeot drivers and technicians deserves better.
Today's stage shortened but will go trough. Motors do 354 km instead of 450. Cars and trucks 387 instead of 510 km.
Peugeot is only in the their 2nd year after re-entry to the Dakar. It's too soon to expect them to win. VW took 5 years to win the Dakar. They too invested in Diesel since they saw potential in it at that time. Regulation has since changed favoring the 2WD buggies. Peugeot has already demonstrated speed (Morocco). With reliability and fine tuning they are bound to be on the first step of the podium in a couple of years!!
What's the different between Baja 1000 spec TT & Dakar 2WD buggies.?
Loeb is leading the stage after 2 checkpoints.
Sainz apparently with problems 13 min. slower then Al- Attiayh
Which tracking do You use? I tried official one - didn't work and trackingdakar.nl but that doesn't work well either - often refuses to switch categories.
The official one. I also have some problems a bit earlier but it works just fine now.
trackingdakar.nl is fixed now and shows each category on its own as it suppose to.
Looks like loeb will win the first stage, already 1.16 ahead at wp6.
this man is just unbelievable, i just have no words for him.
If there was a steering wheel in politics Loeb would achieve world peace.
